A "GREEN" INAUGURATION? GIVE ME A BREAK

Have you heard the buzz? Barack Obama's inauguration is going to be a "green event." As you can imagine, that is far from the truth. In fact, Dan Beard of the Chief Administration Office says, "This is something that's going to consume massive amounts of energy. If you believe that global warming is man-made, then the Obama Inaugural ceremony will do more to add to man-made global warming than any other political event in Washington, D.C. this year."

But here are some of the lengths the Obama camp is going through to make this event "green."

Manure from horses in the parade will be scooped up and sold to a nearby farm.

Volunteers will pick up recycling along the parade route.

And Obama will take the oath of office on a recycled, solid-blue carpet.

Impressive ... very impressive.

What others are saying

  • It appears this event will be going green...ALOT OF GREEN...about what 130 or 150 MILLION green backs...I know inflation has hit but Bush in 2005 was around 40 million? Quite an INCREASE...See they are GOING GREEN..we (the people) are too dumb to figure THAT out!!!
  • Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
The article makes it appear like employees of the CAO sat around stitching a rug; the has over 600 full time employees including a carpet shop and upholstery (and drape) shop who spend all of their time on carpet, chairs, and drapes for offices of the new potentates on the Hill. Not to mention a carpentry shop. The Senate has its own complements of employees serving its every need. Your tax dollars at work.
  • Manure sold?
How much gasoline will be burned and how much CO2 and CO will be created to transport this manure to this local farm? And are these folks - the greeniots - so clueless that they don't realize that the carbon used to recycle the manure will more than offset any gain from doing so?

Ignorance seems to be growing on the enviroleft; one would have thought that nearly impossible until The Messiah and his Minions showed up.
  • Green Inauguration
What's so great about being green??? If those folks really want to offset their carbon footprint, then they should all hold their breath until they turn BLUE!
  • Put it on the South Lawn
Why don't they shovel those road apple up in a big pile and spread them on the South Lawn of the White House? Come spring they won't have to hire that crew of illegals to apply all of those nasty synthetic chemical fertilizers. Green inauguration. Green lawn!
  • green carpeting?
If they're making such a big deal out of "being green," why do they have blue recycled carpeting? Shouldn't it be green?
  • Green
I'm in DC. Most of the thousands of port-a-johns lined up along the National Mall are green. They have green plastic shells.
  • ON THE CARPET
I thought he was going to be sworn in on the Bible!
  • I guess if you count the scraps from pickled pig's feet, watermelon husks, and chicken bones that will litter the grounds when it's over, it should be pretty "green" indeed.
  • Inauguration
I am so sick and tired of this dog and pony show surrounding PEBO soon to be POTUS. Hell, just this morning I'm just out of bed with a cup of joe, turn on the morning news and whose jack skeleton lookin' big eared ugly mug is the first damn thing I have to see? And full screen no less. ARGHHHH!!! I can't wait until the sh** hits the fan.
  • Recycled Rug
Is that "recycled, solid-blue carpet" from the back of Clinton's El Camino? Seems PEBO is recyclin' a lot of the Clinton administration these days...
  • manure
If selling manure is green, politicians have been green long before it was cool... er, um, warm... oh whatever, you know what I mean.
  • Green inauguration
When I saw "recycled solid blue carpet", I, initially, thought it said "soiled blue carpet"
  • He's the only real green one!
What do the factories that process recyclables run on? What types of waste do they produce? How does that factor into "being green?" Does no one realize that there IS NO SUCH THING?"
  • Green Inauguration
And the runway set aside at Notional for the private jets? Will it be painted green? More nonsense from the nattering nabobs...
  • Green? I think not...
This is utter nonsense. If Obama wanted a green inauguration, he would have canceled the public event, told the public to stay home and watch it on TV. 3 million people flying and driving into DC, 10,000 buses, extra trains, and all the gridlock for those unfortunate to live in the area. And for what? To see him say a few dozen words that are the oath of office?

Puhleaz. I'll watch it on TV. Hopefully some "climate change" will drench his worshipers - after all, they can't bring umbrellas.
  • Horse Squeeze!
Farms, hence farmers, do not purchase horse manure. They do, however, frequently sell it. Politicians, on the other hand, are simply full of it. Bury a politician in your garden today!
  • It's not easy...
being green. They will pick up the recycling? What about the trash? What about the amount of human feces?
