TODAY IS THE DAY

It's Election Day in Georgia.  Today the people of Georgia may well decide how Obama is going to "rule" (his word) for the next  two years.  If people don't show up at the polls in Georgia today the Democrat-socialist machine could well roll on without brakes until the next congressional election.  It will allow them to enact policies that will be damaging not only for you but more importantly for your children and grandchildren.  I'm talking about policies like universal healthcare, federalizing pension plans, turning a blind eye to the failings of our social security system.

A vote for Jim Martin - who was campaigning with Ludacris yesterday - is more than the ousting of a Republican from the Senate.  It is a mandate for the liberal agenda .. at least that is how the Democrats would like to see it and that may well be the way things work out - especially if we give the left just this one more Senate seat.

Now .. the notes are short today.  I'm heading for the polls.

What others are saying

  • Reid shows his arragance
Reid: We won't smell the tourists anymore

By Jeff Dufour and Patrick Gavin

    POSTED December 2, 2008 | 11:00 AM

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won't offend them with their B.O. anymore.

"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

But it's no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space.

And that's not all. "We have many bathrooms here, as you can see," Reid continued. "Souvenirs are available."

    $621 million well spent.

These comments show his arragance and contempt for his constituents. He also speaks loudly of his elite perception that Government money is like monopoly money,as 621 million dollars is a lot of money to the 95% percent of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck! It really makes me (lets be polite) angry that OUR money is spent so his nose is no longer offended.
  • I don't care
Regardless of who wins, they'll kiss my butt because I'm a business owner and a source of campaign funds.
Too bad working class hoi polloi. Hahahahahahaha...
  • GO JIM MARTIN!!!!
With Martin in the Senate and Obama in the white house, I'll never have to worry about paying my mortage or putting gas in my car again. We've struck the lottery with Obama!!!

    YAY!!!!!!
  • Chambliss and the Bailout
Some of you keep mentioning one of your reasons for being against Saxby Chambliss is because he voted for the bailout. Well so did OBAMA! And I am sure Jim Martin would have voted for it too. Saxby isn't perfect but he is better than Jim Martin. I bet most of you complaining here today didn't even vote. I was at my polling site at 7:15 am!
  • this one really explains it all!
    Yes, you liberal idiots...
We don't like Chambliss, but I held my nose and voted for him simply to deny you a filibuster proof majority.

    They're both terrible candidates.
    By Fred @ 12/02/08 12:39:20 PM

It is so funny, the right hates Bush Jr, now, that he has proven himself incompetent, but they loved him at first, just as they loved Chambliss, but now they don't like him, but he is the lessor of two evils, guess that means the right is and always been unable to come up with a policy that works, or a candidate who is honest, not surprising the right lost in 2006/2008, and seems to be destined to destroying itself with civil war between the hate radio icons and the moderates in repbulican party pointing fingers and blaming each other for their failures, disappointments, kind've like the pot calling the kettle black!

  • Interesting flip flop Chambliss!
Wash. Times failed to note Chambliss' filibuster flip-flop
Summary: In an article on the Georgia Senate run-off, The Washington Times reported Sen. Saxby Chambliss' suggestion that he would support filibustering judicial nominees if they are, in Chambliss' words, "liberal activist[s]," but did not note that Chambliss previously said that the filibuster of judicial nominations, preventing an up-or-down vote on the nomination, is unconstitutional.
  • clueless republican chicken hawks!
    !@#$% Liberal007...Huh!?!?!?
Ummm, Liberal007, you have me in a quandry. Are describing Slick Willy or Scary Kerry?
    By Spanky McCracken @ 12/02/08 10:17:39 AM

Guess you been in that chicken coop to long with Chambliss, Bushjr, Cheney, if you are so clueless as to know who Chambliss defeated for his present seat, then I do not feel compelled to educate you! I say it again, chicken hawks are birds of a feather and they do seem to flock together!
  • Voting "for" Saxby? really?
So, can anyone offer an actual reason to vote FOR Saxby Chambliss--rather than simply "against Obama," which seems to be the main campaign theme used by the Republicans lately? Would it make any difference if Saxby were replaced with a houseplant, as long as it had an (R) after its name?

    Didn't think so.
  • vote today
I just got back from voting (my employer makes sure we have time!) and line was steady all the time there but did not take long. Asked poll workers if good turn out and they said they thought would be addressing Christmas cards but they havn't had time. May be a good turn out.
  • yawn...
A vote for Chamblis is also a vote for damaging legislation. The bailout he voted for will be paid by our children and grand children 50 + years from now.Not mention he supported the moderate democrat Amnesty 'La Raza' Mccain when he could have supported a real conservative.....like Ron Paul for instance. Also Chamblis is for the Patriot Act one of the most anti-conseervative, anti-American pieces of legislation around. Its not like Chamblis is going to stick with traditional conservatism anyway....the stuff his campaign sends out in the mail makes him sound like a leftist neo-con which is NOT a true traditional conservative. We will still see non-conservative legislation pass with the APPROVAL of Chamblis so what's the point? Waste your gas going out there if you want to. Its almost as if Neal actually believes Chamblis is for smaller government....has the guy come up with any federal agencies he wants abolish?
  • Election Day
Ludacris, that's about the best thing I can come up with for the Liberal agenda. This could be the opening shot of the Conservative revolution, fired right out of my home state of GA!

Ummm, Liberal007, you have me in a quandry. Are describing Slick Willy or Scary Kerry?
  • Disappointed
I never thought I'd be in a position where I would have to vote for the best of both evils once again. Here we have a Dumbocrat who openly lies about the facts and people vote for him, and then we have a weak minded Republician who will just vote whatever the Dumbocrats tell him to vote for (Bail Out Bill for Suckers). Well I voted conservative but is it really conservative. Ludacris is a good word for what our Government is right now!
  • Ludacris
Wasn't Ludacris on your show, Neal?
  • Win or loose Democrats control congress/senate/white house!
I cannot help but laugh at the idea one or two senate seats is all the zealots on the far right have to pin their meager hopes on, Boortz & Gingrich actually think a right to debate is going to win them their agenda in congress/senate, guess they did not get the memo majority votes count, but then it does no doubt make them feel important if they can claim they helped a chicken hawk avoider of duty in vietnam get elected, a man whom pays lip service to honor, patriotism, dishonors real "war heros", those who gave limbs and blood for their country, it is pathetic but not surprising since birds of a feather do seem to flock together, a vote for Chambliss is a vote for a chicken hawk, and anyone voting for Chambliss must like being in the chicken coop!
  • Votin'
Although I am not a proponent of voting for the 'lesser of 2 evils', Go get 'em Neal!
  • Help Us Georgia!
Please be a roadblock to stall out the Liberal agenda! I really hope that the Republicans do not try to reach across the aisle and instead hold strong to fiscal conservatism.
  • Martin is the future
Saxby's and republicans' policies are no better than dems. Chambliss and the republicans have turned this country into a joke spending more on war than on economic and general welfare of the country. Martin may not be better, but Chambliss has definitel failed
  • Far from Fillibuster proof
Just how fast is McCain going to kowtow and cross lines if he made a deal to get his amnesty legislation passed in that meeting with Obama?
  • Election Day
Jim Martin is just some out of work polition the Dem's found on the street to be a warm body to run against Saxby. Today it seems the only quaification to run as Dem. is to have the D- in front of your name.
  • Get out there Folks
Come on folks. It only took 10 minutes to vote this morning. I cant believe how nobody gets how important this is!!
  • Voting Day
I did my part and voted... the turnout at my polling location this morning was very, very small. Disappointing..
  • Vote for expediency?
I cannot comment on whether Boortz's favoring of Martin is on principle or on expedience. However, his argument seems to be out of expedience: a filibuster-proof Senate would hasten the evolution of left-leaning causes. If one were to vote on libertarian principles, one might reason Chambliss is to-vote-for since he reportedly supports the FairTax plan. On the flip side, such a person might consider not voting for him due to his voting for certain bills that encroach upon certain laissez-faire principles. So maybe since "voting on principle" is a coin-toss, one who normally votes in such a way should defer to expedience.
  • Voted!
Dragged the kids out before the bus and voted. Now to encourage everyone here at the office!
  • "Rule"
Actually, Obama did not say that he would "rule". One of his advisors, Valerie Jarrett, said that.
  • Voting today
My wife and I were first two to vote in our precinct today. The site was not ready at 7am and was slow even though we were the first two to cast ballots. There were approximately twenty in line behind us. Get out there and support Saxby!
