While listening to The Neal Boortz show or reading Nealz Nuze there is a strong likelihood that you will hear or read material that is critical of Barack Obama or the liberal agenda.  In keeping with the dictates of political correctness it is hereby acknowledged that any critical comments by Neal Boortz, a white guy, of Barack Obama, a black guy; or any comments critical of the Democrat agenda, is, by default, hate speech.

Yesterday during the program we were graced with the news that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (a Democrat) was arrested. The very short story is that the guy is a complete corrupt footstool. I mean, seriously .. the FBI says it has phone call recordings of this guy - a sitting governor - trying to sell of Barack Obama's senate seat. And that is just the first page! There are 76 pages full of different schemes this guy had going .. like telling the Chicago Tribune that he would give the paper financial help if it agreed to fire some of its editorial writers that were critical of him.

So there are a couple of issues at stake here. Let's start out slow.

First of all, what do you do about Barak Obama's senate seat? The seat still has to be filled. Clearly this creep isn't going to be appointing anyone, so now what? There are talks of the Senate taking over the process. Either way, we know the rules .. It's a black seat now ... a historical black seat ... so at least we know that whoever is appointed or selected or chosen or whatever to fill that seat is going to absolutely, positively, without question have to be black. And no ... there no discrimination here, is there now?

But on to far juicier things .. did Barack Obama's transition team know this was going on? Heck, did Barack Obama himself know this was going on? That question is already getting testy. Yesterday Obama said that he hasn't had any contact with the governor or his office. But there is a statement out there from David Axelrod that he made on November 23, 2008 saying, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." Of course now the Obama transition team has come out and said that Axelrod "misspoke" back in November. Don't you just like this "misspoke" angle? I think "screwed up" is more appropriate. But that is about all we will get for now until the FBI releases more information about the recorded phone calls.

So the next step is .. let's try to figure out how close was Barack Obama to this guy. Even if they weren't close, shouldn't this say SOMETHING about the political culture that produced Barack Obama? From what I can tell, Obama endorsed Blagojevich for governor in 2002 and 2006. He also happened to serve as a top advisor to him during his 2002 run. Guess who was also in the picture? Rahm Emanuel. It can be said that Obama and Emanuel were among Blagojevich's top strategists when he won in 2002.

In 2002, on a Chicago TV show, Obama had the following exchange:

Obama: "Right now, my main focus is to make sure that we elect Rod Blagojevich as Governor, we..."
Host: "You working hard for Rod?"
Obama: "You betcha"
Host: "Hot Rod?"
Obama: "That's exactly right"

And more recently, in 2006, Obama spoke at the Illinois State Fair on behalf of Blagojevich.

Bottom line .. you need to remember that our next president came from the same political culture as did this corrupt governor. Most of Obama's myrmidons don't realize it, but Obama won his first race for office not by getting more votes than the other folks, but by arranging to have his opponents - ALL of them - kicked off the ballot. Now if that doesn't carry the stench of Chicago-style politics ...

What others are saying

  • Typical Chicago politics
    That's why they're known as FIB's
  • Cindy is Right
"The northern half of the State is who has kept him in office as they have the largest population." You are correct. In a nutshell, heavily Democratic Cook (crook) county (the majority of the population in Illinois) elected him.
  • a [quote] from ole Charlie......
    Priapism is dangerous
Please, Neal; try to hide your erection.
    By Charlie Scott @ 12/10/08 11:03:56 AM

WHAT the hell are you talking about, ole Charlie?.........

We're talking about corruption in Chicago with their thugs at the table............and you start talking about Neals' hard-on?!?!?!?!.....

Funny....youre the only one 'noticing' Neals erection.....

    Let me guess...you voted obama??....
  • O'Reilly
I have tried to listen to O'Reilly and have even read one of his books but I still think he would do better in an oversized jacket and call himself Capt. Kangaroo than to be a interviewer.
  • Blagojevich
Why didn't the Fed let this thing play out further--all the way to an exchange of money or at least a firm commitment from the Senate appointee? I think he did it to protect a whole list of potential perps. He was told to end it fast and end it now to protect the rest of the corrupt DEMS.
  • Illinois Corruption
I'd like to comment to the person who said we in Illinois elected him to a second term. Yes, he was elected to a second term. However,it was the northern half of the State that reelected him. You will be hard pressed to find someone in the southern part of the state that has ever approved of him. He has done NOTHING for us....everything has gone to Chicago. The northern half of the State is who has kept him in office as they have the largest population.
  • CORRUPTION U CAN BELIEVE IN
Illinois + politics= crook. It has never been any different. The only state to use troops to arrest thier own citizens during the war between the states with trial. This was done at the order of a prison camp commander because he was fearful the citizens were becoming to friendly with unpopular polotical beliefs and they would riot. PC + hate crimes + thought police = coming to a city near you.
  • Obama's Christmas card list.
Wouldn't it be interesting if we could see who was on Obamy's Christmas card list for the last couple years. That would be revealing to say the least.
  • @Liberal007, SS, Socialist...etc etc
I have a conservative, right-wing conspiracy theory about this guy. I believe that this is Neal himself posting these just to make things interesting, otherwise we'd get bored. Surely there really isn't a person as brainless as this running around with a keyboard? If so, perhaps they drooled on the keys and shorted out the period...hence the commas everywhere!
  • Illinois governor
The governor is a DEMOCRAT, but the liberal media don't ever mention that. Can you imagine their reaction if he was a Republican?
  • Guilt by association
Yes. It worked so well for the Republicans as an election strategy. It is going to be a long eight years for you losers.
  • Wake Up People
It kills me to see people excuse bad behavior with bad behavior. Bottom line is we need to get rid of ALL corrupt politicians. They are on both sides of the isle, in every city. But it does seem that Chicago is the poster child for corrupt politicians.
  • Tip of the iceberg
This is just the tip of the iceberg. What's hilarious is that people in IL are not shocked and are willing participants in all of this. One of the happiest moments in my life was when I saw the sign stating "you are now leaving Illinois" with my possessions behind me in a Uhaul.
  • a corrupt politician?
I didn't vote for Obama nor do I care for his policies. However, let's not point fingers and act suprised because another corrupt politician has been outed. Republicans are outraged? Democrates are shocked? Puhleeze...it's just business as usual in their world.
  • Politicans
Sadly, another example of how politicians never stop disappointing their constituents. I have to think that these are people who, if successful in their first careers would still be working in that career. Unfortunately they are generally excellent at getting elected and schmoozing but not at producing and working for a living. Eventually the politician gets frustrated and jealous with all the wealthy lobbyists, donors, and corporations that they interact with. And, for some, they want their piece of the pie anyway they can work it. Fortunately, we have a criminal justice system but it only seems to snare the most outrageous criminals and political scandals.
  • I'm FROM Chicago...
Here's the problem with Illinois (and, of course, Chicago): our politicians are all dirty and corrupt. We've sort of become accustomed to it. The problem is that we know that if we replace one with another, it's just a matter of time before the culture of corruption infects that guy.
Rod is a scum bag. He knew he was under intense investigation. He knew a new ethics bill was about to go into effect in January and had stepped up his efforts to get rich quick, hoping to get his 'fundraising' done before the bill became law.
So how does this affect Obama? We may never know. The connection between Obama and Blago is tenuous at best. Yes he supported his candidacy, but in Illinois especially, democrats support democrats no matter how dirty they are. The real link between the two lies in the hands on Rezko. Awaiting sentencing, you can bet that it can only benefit Rezko to sing like a canary about everything he knows and everyone he's helped - Blago, Daley, Durbin, the aldermen, and Obama. I guarantee the USA's will cut him a break if he squeals. He has no reason not to - his days of influence peddling, slum lording, and bribe/deal making are as over as can be. He very well might sing, and when he does implicate all of the above.
Obama has but one hope- he needs to completely seperate from the Chicago/Illinois political machine. Unless he does, he will be an illegitimate President who will have little success. I want Obama to be a good President - not because I voted for him, but for the same reason I so staunchly supported Bush: our President is our President. he is not a clown or a celebrity. He is our highest elected leader. I wish him well. His only chance to do well is to seperate from Chicago politics and be the honest, intelligent man of integrity the press insisted he is.
Those dolts who wish to pretend that because republicans have been dirty this is all of no signifigace can kindly shut the F*&K up. Quit drinking the kool-aid for a minute and step back from your blind hate for all things conservative. Conservatives are just as outraged and upset with the Rick Santorums and Larry Craigs of the world. Gov. Rod is a scum bag. Don't give him a pass because he has a D by his name. Illinoisans are seriously pissed off and outraged even though we knew this was coming. Only an idiot tries to pretend that what Rod was doing is okay by virtue of the fact that people like Senator Coleman are under investigation.
This is for folks that think like Socialist : You are hypocrites completely unconcerned with ideals like justice, fairness, and the prosecution of corruption. You lie to yourselves in an attempt to feel better. Realists don't care about party affiliation when it comes to corruption and betrayal of public trust. You do.
  • The only surprise in this is the timing. Chicago and most big city politics are as crooked as you can get.
  • Why do we "need" to fill the Senate seat?
Obama did nothing as a Senator except run for presient, so what difference will it make if its empty?
  • News Flash
Republican incubant Senator Coleman, under investigation by FBI...! Guess this might suck some of the wind out of the right wing icons, on cry baby radio, amazing, corruption in government, as if this is anything new, Richard Nixon made corruption a by word for his party, so why would anyone be surprised a democrat might also be corrupt! Only thing here is icons like Laura Ingraham, Neal Boortz, etc, are trying to do the "guilt by association thing", it is a little late, election is over, your side lost, my advice is get over it!
  • Robert, what does that transcript prove? That he spoke ill of Obama because he didn't agree with him? Oh noes! It's politics, of course they stab eachother in the back. My god.
  • Obama Tainted.......
Good soil yields good crops - Bad soil yields bad crops - Obama grew from the soil of Chicago
  • Gift video
Gee...I wonder why the video is no longer available. Censored.
  • Why they didn't wait.
Yesterday the question was asked why they didn't wait till the deal went down. If Obama DOES have anything to do with it, remeber that Watergate resulted in a pardon from the former VP.
  • What a scumbag
This guy is an a--hat.He actually threatend to cut of funding to a childrens hospital if he didn't get a $50,000 donation from the hospital administration.

Calling him a snake insults snakes everywhere
  • This is a shame.
As a conservative, I was disapointed that John McCain was the republican nominee and very disapointed that Obama won the election. But I accept the decision of the people and Obama as my president in January. I truly hope that he can be a good leader. How sad it is that he is now embroiled in serious controversy before he even takes office. I truly hope that he survies this mess because we can't afford to have a weakened president at this point in our history, regardless of his party.
  • The Chicago Way
Obama: Bringing Chicago politics to all of America.
  • Priapism is dangerous
Please, Neal; try to hide your erection.
  • Demoncrats
    What do you expect:
    1. He is a democrat
2, He is from Chicago like al capone et cetera
    3. Another Rezko homeboy
    4. How does it feel oh anointed one and you are not even in office yet
    5. The criminals are falling out of the trees in Illinois
  • Obama corruption
To believe Obama has "no knowledge" of this scandal is to believe that he didn't hear any of the rants of "Rev." Wright in 20 years; that he didn't know anything about Bill Ayers past when he launched his career in his livingroom (Bill Ayers called Obama "a family friend", Obama calls him "a guy in the neighborhood"); and that he didn't know anything about "slum Lord" (Hillary's words) Rezko, the guy he bought his house from. Folks, get ready for the most corrupt and scandal ridden administration in history. Obama (according to "officialist" historian Beschloss, the president with the highest IQ ever) knows nothing about what goes around him.
  • think a little further down the road!
Whether he realizes it or not, Blagojevich wasn't just trying to make a buck he was selling out the US. He should be tried for treason! Yes, treason-look it up.
  • Shockeddd!!!
Well Frankly I Am Shocked, Shocked I Say, to learn that Corruption Is Going On In Chicago Politics.
  • You betcha?
So Obama was using the trademark Palin phrase back in 02?

Why didn't SNL use a "you betcha" in their Obama skits like they roasted Palin over?
  • corruption knows no bounds
I usually agree with Neil, but this time I must disagree. I don't think (strongly hope) that Obama's endorsement for Blagojevich is any indication of his own political character. Corruption is not exclusive to the democrat party. Plenty of republicans have been indicted as well. Ted Stevens anyone?

Why don't we hold our criticisms for Obama until after he has been inaugurated and has actually had a chance to be the president?
  • Wrong w/ America
I will tell you whats wrong w/ America, and it isnt me. It is people who wont admit that some people are not good at their job. Idiots like you voted republican cause you thought jebus would save you and that terrorists wont attack us. Guess what? In the end all of the politicians are the same. They care more about making money than the American people. Why do republicans hate america is what I am wondering? they give money to every foreign nation from Iraq to Pakistan, and give money to businesses that have guys with the economic skills of bush(how many trillions in debt is the US now?). If republicans loved America, they would spend the money and manpower on, I dont know, AMERICANS
  • Obama's Choices
The only problem I can see in this for the (soon to be) President-Elect is if he continues to say he didn't speak to the Governor. Mr. Obama should just say he had discussions about who he would like to see in his former senate seat and that's as far as things went. Everyone would understand that as perfectly reasonable and would end his questioning. What I am afraid of is that Mr. Obama will follow the Clinton example and try to stonewall any questions. That will make everyone THINK he did something wrong even though he most likely is completely uninvolved in the wrongdoings of the governor. Some of his staff may be up to their eyeballs, but that is also easily dealt with for him. He can clean house and make everything right, or he can wind up with an independent counsel investigation dogging his whole presidency. I hope he does the right thing for the country and jettisons anyone involved in this sordid affair, then goes on to have a very successful presidency. I worry that he will wind up following the Nixon/Clinton example and drag the country through the muck.
  • reality check
    http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2008_12/015991.php
  • What party is he with?
Did anyone notice that not one media article mentioned Rod Blagojevich's party affiliation? I visited several online forums last night and many non-Illinoisans were asking if he was a Democrat or a Republican since all the news wires made no mention of it.

BTW, Obama has been distancing himself (publicly at least) from Blago because he has been under investigayion for a couple of years and BHO knows he is toxic.

Blago was known to be corrupt during his first term as governor, but the dumb voters of Illinois re-elected him anyway. If the Democrats put him on their ticket for a third term, he would surely be re-elected again. As one Chicago union member told me "the union tells me who to vote for and if they ever found out I didn't, I would lose my job."
  • What...
What was the question that Obama was answering when he said that he hasn't "had any contact with the governor or his office."? Did he mean that day or at all or ever? It appears to me that Obama meant that he hadn't spoken to the Governors office regarding the arrest/charges but I don't know the question asked for context. Just wondering.
  • Yeah, I don't think this is going to work...but keep trying (it's cute)
Here's another exchange (this one from the FBI documents) that Neal conveniently forgot about:

Blagojevich: "[I know Obama wants UNNAMED SENATE CANDIDATE A] but they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them. [You want me] to suck it up for two years and give this [expletive, the President-elect] his senator? [Expletive] him. For nothing? [Expletive] him. [I will put UNNAMED SENATE CANDIDATE B] before I give [Obama's preferred candidate] a
[expletive] Senate seat and I don't get anything."

Yeah, sure sounds like they were pretty close.

  • The gift that keeps on giving
Well, it think that gift is Sarah Palin. Look it is just really interesting how there is such a desparation to link Obama to this scandal. So far there is none, but we will see how this plays out. By the way, it seems that Chicago style politics has no party afiliation. If I am not mistaken isn't the former gov. of Illinois in jail and he's republican.
  • Stan....Stan.........
Stan......its people like you that are the problem in this nation.....

I was talking to my brother-in-law about politics....about the clown-obama..and he just looked at me like a freaking deer in the headlights......

My reply to his idiotic stare was..."America is no more".....

To listen and read what people like you have to say about politics is getting to be like vomit....

People like you ALWAYS want to go back to Bush and 3 years or so ago....

We're NOT talking about Bush, you baffoon.....were talking about obama.....

Like I said......its people like you that are the problem with the USA....
  • 0 didn't know what's going on...yeah, right....
Remember, he didn't know what was emanating from the pulpit at his church either. Hmm, he didn't know what Rezko was up to. And isn't it such a coincidence that someone (without informing his campaign or him, I'm sure) managed to get all his opponents off the ballot in his first run for state office. What a guy... makes Hillary's "hmm, I can't remember" look tame.
  • Obama
The "New Saint" is loosing credability everyday. I can see the history books now. They will call it "Four Years of Scandal"
  • News Flash
Rahm Emanuel, Obama chief of staff allegedly tip off source to FBI on governor scandal, corruption, guess this will deflate the wishfull thinking here that this is some how a gift to the republican party, guess when one jumps to conclusions, one has to accept the natural consequences of foot in mouth, just depends how deep will it go in that mouth.
  • Bobby Rush is Racist
I saw Bobby Rush (D-IL) on CSPAN yesterday stating that the Senate seat must be filled by a black man. I don't understand how this is not racist. Imagine if a white person stated that a position must be filled by a white person.
  • Change
Must be some of that Democrat Change We Can Believe In. Looks like politics as usual to me.
  • the choosen one
    were in deep doo doo
  • Hey SS trooper:
We are talking about corrupt government that affects a nation. What Craig did was only about sex and should only be about private lives between consenting adults! Sound familiar you liberal bedwetter?! HAHA!
  • wishfull thinking
I find this wish for Obama connection a mere wishfull thinking on part of right wing icons, fans, salviating at the taste of scandal of a democratic governor, from Illinois, where Obama is from, of course the spin masters on right wing will attempt to spin a connection, but if one listened to the repubican prosecutor no connection exists, but then that little fact is meaningless, wishfull thinking is what I see, but then time will tell this story as it always does!
  • Foot in mouth the gift keeps on giving
Boortz put his foot in his own mouth with this attempt to spin a Obama connection in this scandal, as the story unfolds, in news daily, with recorded audio tape, the deeper boortz's foot goes into his own mouth! Now that is a gift which is going to keep on giving!
  • This is the tip of the iceburg
We all know how Obama's goons handle Chicago politics. Now it appears Rahm Emanuel, one of the most politically tied people out there with shady and questionable ties and deeds, may be a part of this.

Well, the bottom line here is that the media sure won't be doing any investigating here up and down the chain of Democrat contacts. If these people were Republicans, if this was Bush in 2004 with a Republican Texas governor, you can bet the New York Times, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, and every other liberal DNC media outlet would be roto-rootering every nook and cranny trying to get the the bottom of it. Hell the DNC media dug to found out that Joe the Plumber wasn't licensed for crying out loud!
  • I can't believe it
Neal - you know the rules. You said something critical of Obama. That means you're a RAAAACCCIIIISSSTTTT!!!
  • Obama
Since this story broke, I went out and bought lots of popcorn and soda in preparation for what is certain to be a very entertaining premier of the next chapter of Chicago style politics.

The governors arrest is but the prologue.

The Axelrod and Obama previews have already set the stage for what Act I may reveal.

If only I had a fast forward button to the epilogue!

This movie has all the elements for becoming a blockbuster!

    Oscars anyone?
  • Really didn't have a clue?
How could a Presidential candidate from any state not know the political structure and goings on within his or her own state? I find that is akin to telling me the sky is not really blue because we can't really see air. If he can't decipher what the heck is going on in his backyard...How is he gonna' fix the world?
  • Corrupt
All politicians are corrupt. All we should care about is how the country does w/ Obama as President. If we flourish like we did w/ Clinton, then who cares who he is talking to. If he sinks the economy and risks the lives of our army to help halliburton go from billionaires to trillionaires, then he will be just like Bush
  • Wide Stance Republican Senator in news
Senator Larry Craig, the infamous "wide stance" senator caught in the airport mens room solicitating male sex, was in news too, guess one can say this is another story that keeps on giving to the left, or the right which ever way you like to view it!
  • The Gift
Oh goody! A scandal before the Messiah takes office! This is going to be a fun four years.
