First time in five year's I've taken two weeks off like this. Last week was spent at the Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona ... now we're in Las Vegas looking for the best spot to view the synchronized New Year's Eve fireworks up and down the strip. Then it's back to reality and getting ready for PEBO to morph into POTUS. Needless to say, it's going to be rather interesting hosting a talk show with someone living in the White House who earnestly believes that America is great because of government.

So .. to whet your appetite for my return one week from today ..... some insensitive thoughts for you.

IT'S ALWAYS ISRAEL'S FAULT, RIGHT?

By
Neal Boortz

Permalink | Comments (28) | TrackBacks (0)

This is really so completely ridiculous. For days the Muslim Hamas goons in Gaza launch rockets at Israeli civilians. The "Arab world" is quiet. Then Israel retaliates and the "Arab World' suddenly goes nutso. How long do we tolerate this asinine double standard?

Where was the Arab world when those rockets were being fired at innocent Israelis? Sitting on their butts and shutting the hell up, that's where .. and the same goes for much of the oh-so-enlightened European Union. Then Israel retaliates and the world is coming to and. Everybody tells Israel to be careful about causing civilian casualties. Do any of you remember "the world" telling Hamas to be careful about where they aim those rockets? Did "the world" warn Israelis about civilian casualties among the so-called "Palestinians?"

Hamas tells Israel that if they don't stop their assault then Hamas is going to resort to suicide bombings. Are you believing this? Hamas feels free to fire rockets indiscriminately into the Israeli civilian population. They're telling Israel that if it tries to stop them from playing with their rockets, they'll move on to suicide bombs. In other words ... the message is that Israel just has to endure the rocket attacks and do nothing in return.

Israel is to be admired here. They have a civilian population to protect, and the hell with world opinion. When "the world" shows as much concern for innocent Israelis dying under Hamas rocket barrages as it does for Palestinians, then maybe Israel will listen.

Israeli troops are reportedly massing at the border. Send 'em in to clean out these Muslim Hamas goons once and for all.

CAROLINE KENNEDY ... INARTICULATE

By
Neal Boortz
@ December 29, 2008 9:23 AM
Permalink | Comments (26) | TrackBacks (0)

Yeah, that's what I heard some commentator call her over the weekend ... inarticulate. They played some clips on Fox News of an interview with Princess Caroline and it was just a series of "you knows" and "likes." The commentator (sorry, don't remember her name - I'm on vacation) said that she listened to a 35 minute interview with Caroline and counted no less than 196 "you knows" during the interview. Now this inarticulate woman feels somehow entitled to be a U.S. Senator from New York. This one is going to be fun to talk about when I get back behind a hot mic.

Oh, here's a video someone slapped up on YouTube that, you know, illustrates the point.

Let's get this stupid idea stopped before it picks up any more steam. What stupid idea? Well ... read this story. Someone thinks it might be a good idea to build a new football stadium for the Atlanta Falcons on the site of the now-closed Doraville General Motors Assembly Plant. If you live in Atlanta you might know that this assembly plant is very close to Georgia's 2nd busiest airport, Dekalb-Peachtree (PDK). When I'm landing on runway 20L I'm looking right down on the roof of this assembly plant out my left window --- and I'm not all that high either. Let's call it around 400 to 500 feet.

Are the pilots and businesses that use PDK aware of what's being discussed here? They're talking about building a stadium and various mixed-use developments right in the approach path to PDK's busiest runway. You know what happens next, don't you? Well ... the FAA should step in and prohibit a project like this right off the bat ... but you can't count on that ... so what happens next is that people start screaming for the closure of PDK. After all, you can't have all of this people flying around in their airplanes over a crowded stadium, can you? Golly! They might be terrorists or something? At the very least you will have pressure to close PDK ... or at least the runways that have approach or departure paths over the stadium.

The pilots, staff and business of PDK had better get busy killing this idea right about now. There are many good locations for a new stadium in the Atlanta area ... this isn't one of them.

OK .. now you wealth envy folks can start screaming. After all, anyone with an airplane is rich, right? You don't want to hear that the average value of a privately owned piston aircraft is less than the cost of a bass rig, do you. No. Didn't think so.

Are you ready for this? If you're flying out of San Francisco you can visit a kiosk and buy some carbon offsets to assuage your environmental guilt for taking that flight. Don't we have enough nuttiness in the world already? Then again, this is San Francisco.

Oh no! Now I'm just not believing this one. A survey shows that jocks score hundreds of points lower on their SATS then their less athletically inclined classmates. Something just has to be wrong with the survey methods here. This just can't be right.

This story says that 2008 might be the year when this absurd nonsense over man-made global warming was finally debunked. Let's hope so. This nonsense is getting out of hand.

An apparent Craigslist posting. I sure hope it was real. I wonder if anyone took him up on it?

Someone has figured out how to change the phone number associated with Barack Obama's home address in Chicago to the Party of Socialism and Liberation. Okay, look people, while this is amusing, it is not another Obama link to socialists. So when it lands in your email box, your friends will thank you for NOT forwarding it to them. Don't worry, snopes.com will have a page on it soon enough.

If you really want to have fun with Google, I've got one for you. Next time someone asks you a question they should have searched Google for rather than bothering you, here's a little tool for you. Put their question in the box, like Google, and poke Google Search. A link will created for you to send them, or, even better, if you mouse below the link, you'll get a button that says tinyurl. Click that. Then send them the link it gives you, so they don't know you're having fun with them by looking at the link. Click go and see what happens. Ha! They probably still won't get it.

  • Thus far I haven't been invited to take part in the inauguration. I guess I know where I stand with the upcoming administration.
  • Have you signed up to be a Media Matters whistleblower? Oh yes indeedy! You can spy on your local hate-filled, evil-to-the-core conservative radio talk show host and report on all of his or her misdeeds to the watchdogs at George Soros' Media Matters! Here's your link to become a part of the cabal! When you've joined up be sure to pay special attention to every hate-filled thing I say on the air so you can make your timely reports to Media Myrmidons!
  • The Supreme Court has turned down all cases claiming Obama isn't a natural-born citizen of the United States. Next up; Obama is actually an alien who participated in the design and building of the pyramids on his first trip to Earth. This conspiracy theory might actually appeal to the liberal desire to deify Obama anyway.
  • It snowed in Las Vegas yesterday. Bit time. Most snow in 30 years. This global warming is turning out to be a real boon to makers of cold weather clothing. The warmers have an answer though .. they say that the cold weather is proof of global warming. What's worse, idiots then not their heads and say "yeah, that's right. Told you so."
  • Try to do something for some children who are not going to have a Christmas without your intervention. Forget how good it makes those kids feel ... you'll be surprised at how good it makes YOU feel.
  • Why are more listeners concerned about whether or not short hair in women means a decreasing interest in sex than are concerned about the current state of our economy?
  • Brit Hume is retiring. Well... sort of retiring. He's leaving Special Report as of Christmas Eve. To put this succinctly, that sucks. There was no better news program on the air, and I don't know who they could find to replace him. Well wait, maybe I do. Just let me fill in for one night .. and a star will be born. Trouble is, I don't want a TV show.
  • Someone sent me a neti pot. Good thing I read the directions before I tried to use the thing. Almost made a horrible mistake. But hey ... I'm the idiot who for several years thought that Stein Mart was a giant store that sold German beer steins. No, I'm not kidding.

This is perhaps the scariest news of the day. I mean .. seriously scary stuff. Maybe not for you. But for your grandchildren.

The tremendous growth of the federal government is just disgusting. And all parties are to blame. When Republicans ran the Congress years ago, with the Democrats running things now, and President Bush is no exception.

In 2008, government spending commitments increased by 25%. Yep, you read that correctly. That means that you, the taxpayers, were on the hook for more than $1 trillion even BEFORE this economic bailout, this UAW bailout, and any other "rescue" the government has attempted to provide. Don't just pass this statistic by. This country has been around for 225 years now ... and in just one year we increased the cost of government by 25%. This growth is simply not sustainable. There is no way our children and grandchildren can afford to pay this bill. If can figure out how to do it ... for goodness sake let the rest of us know before it is too late.

The joint report from the White House and Treasury Department says that much of the increase is because of an unexpected jump in veterans' benefits liabilities and the lack of revenues ... aka. your tax dollars. And here's another way to look at it: the report shows that US debts and liabilities have almost passed the value of the US population's net worth. That is according to a nonprofit organization that promotes fiscal responsibility.

And I've been telling you for years that we cannot keep up our current system and expect our grandchildren to be OK. The report says that current revenues (that's money collected from taxes) are only sufficient to pay HALF of what the government is going to owe in 30 years. We are headed for financial disaster. If you think this is bad, wait until your grandchildren inherit the fruits of our current spending. They will be paying for our love of government.

When I say "they" I am talking about government bureaucrats. In California, the Democrat-led legislature is just DYING to increase taxes. It wants to be like New York with these iPod taxes and massage taxes .. anything that they can do to get their hands on more of your money. And for months, the Republicans in California have blocked efforts to increase taxes.

Until now... the Democrats in the California legislature have decided that since they can't have their tax increases, they will just call them something else: "fees." By calling them "fees" rather than "taxes", there is a loophole in the law that will let the legislature increase "fees" with a simple majority vote - rather than the typical two-thirds. This is straight from the Barack Obama play book .. let's not call it "welfare" we'll call them "tax cuts"! You get the idea.

So these Democrats will be able to increase the state sales tax by three-fourths of a cent. Gas taxes will increase by 13.5 cents a gallon. There will be a 2.5% surcharge added to income taxes. New taxes will be aimed at the oil companies.

All of this .. because the Democrats can just change the language.

The economy probably has something to do with it. By "it" I mean the increase in wealth envy and the increase in emails calling the evil, putrid, disgusting, wealthy everything but a child of God. When you can't pay your bills I guess the resentment against those who can really sets in.

I had a rare bout of actual thinking the yesterday. I remembered a time about 10 years ago when gays thought it would be a good idea to print "gay money" on all of their cash to show the community their economic impact.

I have a different idea.

If the evil rich to be despised, then maybe it's time for them to just take a bit of a spending vacation. Don't print "rich money" on your bills, just don't spend them! I would love to see the people in that evil top 1% of income earners - those earning more than something like $350,000 a year - just make a pledge to live a year as if they were making a middle class salary ... say $75,000 a year. Just limit your spending to $75,000 - and that's for everything - and then take the rest of your money and put it away somewhere where it will not be available to the economy. Then the evil rich can sit back and watch the great American middle class wonder why in the world nobody is buying their stuff. Imagine their surprise when the pink slip arrives.

A Congresswoman from California by the name of Anna Eshoo (bless you) says that she is going to work fiercely to make sure that hate radio is shut down! Okay, so she didn't exactly say that .. but she did say that she is going to work to restore the Fairness Doctrine in the new Congress. She also wants the Fairness Doctrine to apply to cable and satellite programming as well as radio and TV.

She says, "I'll work on bringing it back. I still believe in it ... It should and will affect everyone." She says that the current system is "unfair" and that there needs to be "equal time for the spoken word."

Luckily, you people have finally given it a bit of a rest. But to put the final nail the coffin .. Supreme Court Justice Kennedy has denied the appeal of Philip Berg, that claims Obama is a citizen of Kenya or Indonesia and therefore cannot be president.

Great. Let's move on to more important things .. like how much George Bush hates the Obama kids because he won't let them move into the Blair House early.

Apparently Jamie Dupree is enjoying the abuse (who knew that about him?) He's over there on his blog begging for more.

Received this email from a listener:
Hello Mr. Boortz,
I truly hope this email gets to you as it contains information I believe you should know. I never realized that the school systems were as bad as you often describe until about 3 weeks ago. I am a contractor with (business name deleted). My position within the company involves travelling to county schools in Georgia and installing newly purchased equipment within the schools. About 3 weeks ago I was in Narvie J. Harris Elementary school when I saw a sign that caused me to drop my jaw. The poster read:

"Poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn't commit." ~Eli Khamarov

It was at this moment that I realized everything you were saying about the government schools
was damn near the truth. I will admit that I went to a government school in elementary and middle schools from 1993 to 1998...I just never realized the government had gotten this bad!

The listener has it right .. this sign is actually doing more damage in this school than good. Poverty is a punishment for lack of effort. The school should change the sign to read:

The rich keep getting richer because they keep doing what it was that made them rich ... ditto for the poor.

A sign like that would cause the pitiful government school hostages to actually ask some questions, and if there is an astute teacher around they might get some answers that are worth that day in school.

Israel says that when Iran gets a nuclear weapon .. there is no more "if" folks .. it will use it to attack the United States. That should be all a sane nation needs to take these idiots out. Oh but wait. That would be a preemptive strike, wouldn't it? What do you want to bet that a preemptive war would be just fine with the left under a Democrat president?

Next in line for a bailout? How about America's colleges and universities?

Did you know that Obama's energy secretary wants the government to inflate the price of gas to force you to change your habits? Obama says that this isn't a good idea "right now."

While waiting for the taxpayers to bail them out, GM is going to stop construction of a plant that would build the Chevy Volt plug-in electric car.

What kills more Americans .. thunderstorms or hurricanes? How about heat or earthquakes? How about idiots talking on cell phones while trying to drive?

This may not shock you ... but nearly 1/2 of all women and 1/3 of men prefer the Internet to sex.

In Great Britain, government schools can no longer send home letters telling them that their children are obese, because the word "obese" upsets them.

Or are you confused about the difference in the way the Democrats react to scandal-plagued Charlie Rangel and Governor Blago? Charlie, you see, is the chief congressional tax writer. He's the mighty powerful of the House Ways and Means Committee ... and this tax expert has apparently claimed homestead exemptions in two different states and somehow conveniently forgot to claim as income the proceeds of the rental of his little Caribbean hideaway. Now you or I do this stuff and we get nailed. Not so Charlie. Governor Blago, on the other hand, is standing in front of a Democrat firing squad. Now if I weren't so cynical I would wonder if they wanted to get rid of Blago because he might be an embarrassment to PEBO .. but Charlie is on the team, so let's circle the wagons!

ENTER THE UNIONS ..

By

Permalink | Comments (7) | TrackBacks (0)

I knew that the deeper we got into this Blagojevich story, eventually we would cross paths with unions. I didn't know exactly how or why or when .. but it was just a hunch that a corrupt governor like this Blagojevich character would be in it up to his chin with the unions. After all, when Blagojevich was re-elected, guess who was the largest single contributor to his campaign .. you guessed it: a union.

As we learn more about this investigation, it turns out that Blagojevich was getting ready to issue an executive order that would have allowed home healthcare workers to unionize. Meanwhile, Blagojevich's goal .. according to this criminal complaint .. was to get a high paying job from a powerful union from all of this Barack Obama senate seat nonsense.

Okay, fine. So the guy has issued executive orders like this before. It's no secret that not only does this guy love unions .. he wants to be in charge of them. He wants the power. Man, as if being the governor of a state wasn't good enough for him. But here's why I am bringing this story to you. Because you know how I feel about this unionization-by-intimidation bill. Otherwise known as the Card Check bill. But here is just a little taste of what the unions are currently doing, you can only imagine the tactics they would use once they get a law passed:

Don Moss, a Springfield lobbyist, represents private agencies that oversee workers who would have been affected by the latest executive order. He said he started receiving complaints from agencies that union representatives were contacting workers at their homes. Moss said the workers complained that union representatives were using heavy-handed tactics to try to get them to join the union.

Oh no! He's not serious, is he? How in the world could this guy ever expect us to believe that American's saintly unions would ever use heavy-handed tactics to get people to join? This is blasphemy!

Right ... This is just the beginning of it, folks. You wait until Obama is inaugurated and we've got Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as his co-pilots. There will be no stopping the unions who feel entitled to their special "thanks" for keeping these people in power.

THIS FROM DICK MORRIS:

By

Permalink | Comments (23) | TrackBacks (0)

This little goodie came across today from our friend Dick Morris. Dick is saying what I've been saying for a year .. but better:

The politics of 2009 will be dominated by a continuation and deepening of the global Depression. Under the guise of stimulating the economy, look for Obama to pursue a radical, socialist agenda that will bring America into conformity with the government domination of health care and the economy that prevails in the European Union. When the dust clears, the economy will still be in the tank. The new president's stimulation packages will do little or nothing to abate the depression, but they will transform American life and politics. For his part, Obama will take advantage of his built-in majorities in Congress to pass his agenda, but will suffer rapidly dropping ratings. By the end of the year, he will be as radioactive as Bush is today.

Well, at least Obama comes by this honestly. How many times were you reminded of his affinity for radical left wing groups during his college years? Don't tell me you haven't read "Faith from my Father" wherein Barack Obama detailed his affinity for Marxist professors and student groups.

Obama, bless his heart, is a man who only sees a government solution to almost any problem. He is not programmed to look to the private sector for solutions to any problem past labeling a can of beans. As such, Obama is the ideal president for our times. Generations of our children have been educated (by the government) to also believe that the government is the solution to all significant problems. Now think about it: If you went to a Catholic school you were surely taught that Catholicism was the way to go. A Jewish school? Judaism is the proper path. Government school? Connect the dots. It will take at least a generation - a generation without government schools - to once again bring about an appreciation for freedom and free markets.

Not time to say "I told you so" yet ... but we're going to get there.

Someone has come up with a way to explain the difference between imply and infer .. and it's a definition that everyone can understand! Here you go ...

Only the SPEAKER can imply.

Only the LISTENER can infer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now I understand. This one has been bothering me for years.

How are you preparing for survival panic? No, seriously. Psychologists are worried that with the current economy, people are going to go into panic mode. This means more theft. More crime. Drug use. Work place violence. Depression. People are getting seriously worried how our entitlement, wealth-envy culture is going to handle a tough economic climate.

Take this AP article, for example: "In the coming months, mental health experts expect a rise in theft, depression, drug use, anxiety and even violence as consumers confront a harsh new reality and must live within diminished means." What they mean by "diminished means" is that it is going to be harder for you to buy your lifestyle using a credit card. You will complain that your children are hungry and you can't afford healthcare, but your wife will have the latest designer handbag from the mall and you will have the newest cell phone plastered to your ear.

Now I know, I know .. this doesn't go for EVERYONE. There are some of you who know how to live within your means and aren't playing this game of wealth envy. But the painful truth is that you are in the minority, folks. The vast majority of people in this country are more concerned about the size of their TV screen than their child's education.

Know what? Sounds like a pretty good time to buy a gun ... and learn to use it. I'm looking for some DRT stories on predators who break into homes and threaten innocents.

The American Federation of Teachers, the largest teacher's union, wants your children in their classrooms at an even earlier age. The union says that children as young as three years old should be in government pre-school programs.

Now here is the deal. These teachers unions believe that government is the solution. Government is best and can do it better. And they feel like the sooner you can get your child into the government education system, the better off you are for it and the earlier they can start the "government is great" indoctrination process on your carpet crawlers.

Former Assistant Education Secretary Susan Neuman says, "The reality is that most of our children need child care, regardless ... Many parents are lucky enough to be home for the day. But more often than not they will need child care." What she means, of course, is GOVERNMENT child care. So there you go. We are admitting that this isn't about education, this is about child care. A government-sponsored, taxpayer funded baby sitting service.

We'll start out your day with a fantastic DRT story! Ain't it grand that this woman had a gun?

And the good news keeps on rolling in! Another DRT story, this one from Atlanta!

And you know how much I hate to bring you the bad news. T-Boz is losing her house. Oh the humanity! And if that wasn't bad enough, Lil Wayne has been accused of copyright infringement.

Ok .. enough news from the world of hip hop ............

Possibly the idiot parents of the decade ... thus far.

If you live or work in New York City you pay federal income tax, state income tax and city income tax. Now look what the NY Governor has in store for you. Even more taxes, 88 of them to be exact! There's even going to be an iPod tax!

And we'll follow up by trying to be helpful. Here's your Plan to Survive the Obama Years.

The understatement of the year from President Bush: "I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system." Gee, ya think?

To listen to the left you would think that the future of the free world depends on the survival of the Big Three automakers. Sorry, 'taint so. And no ... I'm not talking about that "taint." Get your minds out of the gutter.

So the Car Czar (whoever that turns out to be) would be able to force GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy if they don't come up with a plan to survive without government aid.

A former student of the Rhode Island College School of Social Work says that his professors discriminated against him because he is conservative.

Yesterday the Minnesota state canvassing board began counting ballots one by one to figure out who won this darn Senate race.

So it is looking more and more like Caroline Kennedy will be Hillary's replacement in the Senate.

You are going to love this headline from the Chicago-Sun Times: Black leaders see Senate seat being hijacked.

AP writers are going on a "byline strike." Good grief.

Here's one of today's posts from Washington correspondent, Jamie Dupree. It's on a topic some of you really seem to love.

The Obama Conspiracy Rolls On

For the third time this month, the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit that sought to stay the results of the November elections because of concerns over Barack Obama's citizenship.

The latest case was brought by a Connecticut man who claims that Obama was a British subject when born (because of his father) which would make Obama ineligible to be President.

Okay, folks .. Barack Obama is officially our president-elect.

Can I get an "I told you so" ... Bush is discussing an auto "rescue" that could cost upwards of $40 billion.

A review by Obama's lawyer found that the president-elect had no direct contact with Gov. Blagojevich about Obama's Senate replacement.

And now for the top 10 political quotes of the year, according to the liberal media.

While we are at it with lists ... how about a little recap of the worst government waste of the year. Your tax dollars at work.

Norm Coleman has asked the Minnesota Supreme Court to get involved in this Senate race with funny guy Al Franken.

Quick, we don't have much time to solve all of this global warming! Check out how hot is has been around the country lately.

The best news you will read all day: Some Mexicans leaving US, planning never to return.

A listener sent us this story about a supermarket that refused to personalize a birthday cake for a toddler .. Adolf Hitler Campbell. Parents of the year.

Gawd here's a twofer from the UK ... environmentalist protesters and government waste.

What is going on in Great Britain lately? Now the Salvation Army can't ring bells or shake charity tins because it might "offend other religions."

Haven't had enough from the UK? Fine. A blind man was turned away from a restaurant because his guide dog was offensive to the Muslim staff.

And while we are the subject of Muslims ... did you know that the Mall of America in Minnesota had Muslim prayer rooms for their celebration of Eid?

THE UNPATRIOTIC ARGUMENT

After the auto bailout failed in the Senate ... true colors are starting to shine. The unions are livid at one group of people for blocking their chances at getting a bailout (for now), and that group would be senators from the South. Yup, the evil, anti-union South rears its ugly head. The evil Southern Senators are Mitch McConnell, Bob Corker and Richard Shelby. The UAW has gone as far to say that these senators are "representing the foreign brands" because their southern states are home to foreign automakers such as BMW, Honda and others. UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said, "They thought perhaps they could have a twofer here maybe: Pierce the heart of organized labor while representing the foreign brands." A local UAW president at a GM factory in TN said, "What this is, is the Southern conservative senators trying to destroy the United Auto Workers, trying to destroy unions ... It's a sad day in America when the senators turn their back on Main Street." Well last Friday was a sad day as well ... a day when the UAW turned its back on the automakers.

The real deal here is that the unions are concerned that if they don't get their auto bailout, it will look really bad for the organized labor movement. More and more people are realizing that a huge part of the problem with the Big Three is their unions. What possible excuse is there for paying people not to work? Google "jobs bank" and see what I'm talking about. If the union movement is undermined, they won't get their ultimate prize they have been waiting for: The Employee Free Choice Act. Now wouldn't that be a crying shame.

Meanwhile, I want you to check out this picture: 22 Pounds of UAW Rules and Regulations. If you really want to see what is wrong with the Big Three ... just look into these contracts.

One of the problems here is that so often it looks like these auto workers don't really know or appreciate who they're working for. Visit a Big Three assembly plant just around quitting time. Do you see workers streaming out of those plants with Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge jackets and ball caps on? Hardly any. What you do see is workers heading for their cars with jackets and hats emblazoned with the UAW logo and the name of their local. The union is paramount to them. Their actual employer? The enemy.

Oh .. and let's put this idea to rest that nobody wants to buy a car right now because these automakers might go bankrupt. I did. I bought a brand new Chevy Equinox last Friday. I needed a car that I didn't mind driving in the schmutz and could load up with stuff. I'll leave the other one under a cover until the sun shines and I can put the top down. Just doing my bit to help the economy. You see, it was I who picked the winner (my Chevy dealer) last week with my money, not the government. This is as it should be.

Just to give you a little idea of where Obama's New Deal plan stands .. this is where Obama flexes his "government-can-solve-all" muscles by using your tax dollars to pay people to rake leaves in the forest ... Obama's plan might reach $1 trillion over two years. And since it is government, that number is just the beginning, folks. Why don't you hand this tab to your kids on Christmas morning.

By the way ... since this comment can be construed as slightly anti-Obama, you must know that it was racist.

NIMBY ALERT

Last week we had a F/A-18D Hornet crash into a neighborhood in San Diego, just outside of Miramar Marine Corps Air Station. A man who lost his family in the crash, an immigrant from Korea, said that he didn't blame the pilot for the accident. Now there is an admirable man.

But the rest of his neighbors aren't being as forgiving. For years, there has been a battle between the Miramar Air Station and the residents of its surrounding neighborhoods. These people are what you would call NIMBYs - Not In My BackYard. And this crash last week has really re-ignited the NIMBYs of San Diego to get rid of Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

The residents are saying that this crash is the latest reminder of the "longtime noise and safety concerns arising from operations at Miramar." They have also complained about the traffic congestion. Environmental groups are upset with the bases' "history of industrial pollution." Sally Marks, a San Diego resident since 1978, says, "The Marines are decent people, and it seems un-American to gripe about them during wartime. But having hundreds of helicopters and jets in the middle of an urban area is a recipe for discord and disaster." And then there is resident Gayle Aruta (another woman) who says, "These types of jets have to be moved. It's not safe, these things flying over schools and children ... How many people have to die?" That, my friends, is the profile of a NIMBY.

A few things for Gayle and her NIMBY crowd should remember .. Miramar has been around since before you were born. Its origins date back to 1917. Not to mention that when moving into the area, there is no secret that you are moving near a military base .. you have to sign a contract that disclosed those inconvenient facts..

Oh and then there is that little thing the NIMBYs forget - the economic impact of the base. Did you know that the Pentagon spends $15.5 billion in the San Diego area for things like salaries, equipment repairs and construction? That's a lot of capital being pumped into the area. This means that San Diego is the top recipient of military funding compared to any other county in the nation.

THE (NON) NEWS OF THE DAY

Liberals are irate over this story. Here's the scoop .. five days before the inauguration, the president-elect and his family move into the Blair House in Washington. But the Obamas have requested to move into the Blair House on January 5th so that their girls can start classes at their private school. But the Blair House turns out to be booked until January 15th for "receptions and gatherings" by members of the outgoing Bush administration.

Now you get the comments .. "the Bush's are just Obama-haters," "the Bush's should have been kicked out of Washington a long time ago," "the Republicans are stooping to a new low by attacking the Obama children."

Oh ... and don't forget the racism argument. This is one you're going to have to get used to. For the next four years - possibly the next eight years - every single time someone disagrees with a word that Obama says, or every time someone doesn't jump when Obama says "frog;" every slight of Obama, no matter how obscure, will be called racism. Obama, you understand, is perfection. There is only one reason in the world that anyone would ever disagree with one word from this man. Only one reason why anyone would ever deny him anything; and that would simply be because Obama is black.

This is going to get sooooooooo tiring.

The White House still hasn't decided whether or not it is going to bailout the UAW. Who are they kidding? The fix is in, and your children will have some hefty bills to pay.

President Bush made his final trip to Iraq where an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at Bush during a press conference. Bush's reaction: "All I can report is it is a size 10."

So Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel did talk to Blagojevich and John Harris about filling Obama's Senate seat ... whether he knew Blagojevich wanted to sell the seat is a different question.

John McCain is unhappy with the way the GOP has handled this Blagojevich scandal. Perhaps it's time for John McCain to fade into the background a bit.

But some say that Blagojevich may step aside today because of "financial circumstances."

John Stossel says that despite Barack Obama's assurances, we should be worrying about the federal deficit.

Oliver North has written a letter to the new car czar ... whoever that person turns out to be.

John Kerry says that the Bush administration's revisions of the Endangered Species Act are, essentially, un-American.

Due to computer glitches and government bureaucracy, widows of our war veterans have been wrongfully denied millions of dollars in government benefits. Oh goodie! Here's an idea! Let's let this same government run our healthcare!

How do you feel about the government spending your taxpayer dollars to help delinquent mortgage borrowers?

Teachers unions are hindering student learning?? There's a real shocker. What would you expect from the most dangerous single entity in this country today?

Here's an article about the politically inconvenient truth about electric cars.

When in doubt .. blame the West. That's the latest line from Zimbabwe where Robert Mugabe is accusing the West of waging biological warfare and intentionally starting a cholera epidemic in his country.

Atlanta courthouse shooter Brian Nichols has been sentenced to life without parole. I can't wait to read that he has been found on the floor of his cell with his throat sliced wide open. Now that wasn't very nice, was it?

A California city council is upset that its mayor works into the wee hours of the morning ... so they pass a curfew limiting how late the mayor can work at City Hall. Only government.

It's official .. a court in Germany has ruled that having large funbags is not an illness.

All of these cold temperatures? Surely you knew that this is all further proof of global warming, didn't you? The story says that the top-ten years in terms of temperature have occurred since Clinton's second coronation. Not true. The hottest year on record was 1934. These people just won't give up.

Apparently there's a movie out there called "The Wrestler." Now Iran is insulted because one of the wrestlers depicted in the move is named The Ayatollah. Poor, poor pitiful Iran.

UNIONS KILL THE BAILOUT BILL

By
Neal Boortz
@ December 12, 2008 8:33 AM
Permalink | Comments (37) | TrackBacks (0)

Wow! We could have written that headline at the beginning of this mess. Unions seem to take great delight in standing in the way of reform that could possibly save their jobs. Remember when the airline pilot's unions killed Eastern Airlines?

All the unions had to do in order to get the Republicans to go for this $15 billion bailout was to promise to reduce union wages to the level paid to automakers in the Toyota and Nissan plants by the end of 2009. No way. They weren't going for it. So now GM has hired bankruptcy council.

(By the way ... in answer to the question of who would buy a car from an automaker that was going bankrupt? I would -- I did -- Just yesterday. At this place. There are some pretty amazing deals out there. Trust me.)

Did you hear about the riots? Yeah .. the riots. Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina knows that a vast majority of Americans used to be absolutely opposed to the idea .. as time has dragged on, that number has gone down slightly. But the point is that this auto bailout - which is really a union bailout - still has many of you upset. You are tired of the government picking winners and losers. You are tired of the unions dictating business practices. You are thinking about your grandchildren who are really going to bear the brunt of this massive spending spree.

DeMint, and he brought up an excellent point. GM is in a better financial situation than the government that wants to bail it out. The only difference between these two failing entities (GM and the government) is that the government can print the money. GM can't.

So where does this lead us? DeMint says that if a bailout passes we are going to see riots: "We're going to have riots. There are already people rioting because they're losing their jobs when everybody else is being bailed out. The fairness of it becomes more and more evident as we go along. The auto companies may be hurting ... but there are very few companies that aren't hurting and they're going to hurt. We don't have enough money to bail everyone out." He's absolutely right .. we don't have the money. Government politicians who are drunk with power think that they will be able to bailout the people that support their power. This auto bailout is no exception. Riots? No ... I don't really think so. Take the dubs off the market, and maybe so.

That leads us to the unions. For months, politicians have been creeping around the real source of this auto bailout: the unions. They know the UAW is the problem but they are too afraid to say it. Why? Because of exactly what I said before: power. But Jim DeMint says, "The primary driver behind this is the unions, because bankruptcy allows the auto companies to basically restructure all their contracts in a way that a bankruptcy judge says will make them sustainable ... And if they do that, then essentially the unions lose all their leverage. It's the unions that have brought them to the brink. So definitely, I think the reason they want a political solution and a car czar is because a car czar can protect the unions through this whole process at the expense of the taxpayer." Makes sense ... so why did the UAW stand in the way of this $15 billion? I'll tell you why. Because they know they can get the full deal as soon as the Democrats take over, without any strong wage concessions. They're betting that GM doesn't pull the bankruptcy lever before PEBO gets sworn in.

Now back to these riots. Do I think there will be riots? No. And that's because I don't believe that the people of this country really care all that much. They may think they do, but when was the last time they contacted their Congressman or Senator to tell him? When was the last time they turned off Entertainment Tonight and picked up a history book? Sure the phone lines on talk radio shows will ring for a while, but that will die out quickly. You have Christmas to worry about. I don't blame you. But just know that when you return from your vacation, and Barack Obama is sworn in, and the new Congress is ready to enact its agenda .. that is just the beginning, folks. There's a lot of work to be done, and I'm afraid I don't have the faith that the people are willing to fight for it.

This is a letter that was recently delivered to employees of a not-to-be named company. That's right ... Widget, Inc. is the fake name. I inserted it in place of the real company name. Do you think this employer is being heavy-handed? Frankly ... I think he's spot on.

To All WIDGET, INC. employees...this Friday WIDGET, INC. will give bonuses to WIDGET, INC. permanent employees who have excelled during the 2008 year. WIDGET, INC. will also offer to some of our most valuable 1099 workers (these workers have earned a chance at a permanent position through their hard work and longevity with WIDGET, INC.) a chance to be permanent employees of WIDGET, INC. The permanent employees that did not get a bonus have been deemed to have not performed to WIDGET, INC. standards and policies and should immediately change their behavior if they wish to retain their jobs here at WIDGET, INC.!

The job market in the United States is decreasing and many employers are furloughing permanent employees and outsourcing to keep costs low. We at WIDGET, INC. always have had a positive re-enforcement policy to pay people for outstanding performance. The 2008 economy has been tough...however; we at WIDGET, INC. management chose to give employees who work hard for WIDGET, INC. a bonus or offer them a permanent position.

The 2009 year will hold many caveats for WIDGET, INC., but we will endeavor to persevere and rid our staff of personnel from employees with bad attitudes, poor work ethics and sloppy craftsmanship that results in costly errors to WIDGET, INC.. We will hire people who want to work, present a positive attitude, perform quality work and conform to the policies of WIDGET, INC.. Therefore; if you do not want to lose your livelihood with WIDGET, INC....then I suggest you get with the WIDGET, INC. program and take some pride in yourself and your work and consequently this will lead to your success.

In conclusion; I wish to congratulate all employees who received a bonus or who were made permanent on a job well done. To All employees and contractors of WIDGET, INC. ... I wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Did you know that Harry Reid has decided to slip a little something extra into this auto bailout for the Big Three? What auto bailout, you ask? Oh ... there will be an auto bailout. The unions demand it. We just have to wait to get rid of a few more evil Republicans in the congress and one in the White House. Anyway ... Harry wants to include something in an auto bailout. What might that be? Well, how about a pay raise for federal judges.

Tricky, huh? Before we go any further, let's address one thing. Did you know that your Senators and your Congressmen are getting a $5,000 raise on January 1st? That must be for all of the great work that they have done spending your tax dollars and putting your grandchildren on the hook for trillions and trillions of dollars. Now this federal judge raise is a COLA - cost of living adjustment - but let me ask you this .. how many of you out there who own your own business are giving $5,000 cost of living adjustments to your employees right now? How many of you have worked for years without a raise that won't even keep up with inflation? Or a raise at all?

But Congress is getting one. And if this bailout bill passes, these US District court judges will be getting an "adjustment" to their pay .. all thanks to your tax dollars. That this would be on top of the 2.8% raise that the judges are "expected" to be rewarded next year.

Government. How are we going to rein these people in?

In case Obama is seriously toying with the idea of requiring every American to have some form of health insurance ... he might wanna listen up. According to a poll commissioned by Consumer Watchdog, less than 15% of Americans support the idea of requiring every Americans to provide proof of private health insurance or face tax penalties or other fines. And 53% of voters were opposed to the idea altogether.

Here's something interesting to note ... Opposition is also strongest in the West (61% oppose; 16% favor), North Central states (54% oppose; 16% favor), the South (51% oppose; 13% favor) and in the Northeast (45% oppose; 18% favor).

But the Democrats are at the wheel .. so you can expect it. Now, how much is this going to cost? You can only begin to imagine.

There's also this little problem: Where in our Constitution does the Imperial Federal Government of the United States derive the power to force one single American citizen to BUY ANYTHING? Oh ... almost forgot. The Constitution really doesn't count any more.

McDonald's recently came out against this card check bill that the Democrats are eager to pass. The Democrats want to make good on all of those campaign contributions they got from union members to keep them in power. But McDonald's President Don Thompson sent a memo to 2,400 franchises to "contact your U.S. senators and representatives to oppose" the Employee Free Choice Act.

The unions are now upset. The Service Employee International Union wants its members to send letters to McDonald's in support of the bill. The union said, "McDonald's isn't lovin' free choice for its employees." Free choice?? Is that what we are calling the end of your right to a secret ballot ... free choice? Every one of these employees is still perfectly free to vote however they chose ... in secret. It's the secret part that ticks off the unions. How in the hell are they going to know who's car to key and who's family to threaten if they don't know how people voted? The AFL-CIO is weighing in as well. They say that " ... McDonald's has just announced a whopper of a campaign against their economic interests and against their hopes for an economy that works for all, not just for the CEOs." I'm sensing the wealth envy.

So I did something I rarely do, and I read some of the comments on this story. I particularly liked this one:

"This is great news! Not only will all of our cars be made by overseas manufacturers but now all of our fast food jobs will be sent off shore (to Bangladesh) as well and a $2.00 Big Mac will cost $35.00 and be ordered form MCD's.com, hopefully the shipping will be free(unless you want it overnight) then it could get costly. Our kids here in the US don't need those starter jobs anyway, lets give them to more needy career folks in other countries. 5 years from now it will be Burger King, Mac Donalds and Jack in the Box seated before Congress begging for a bail out!"

Well said, my friend.

It's been a while since we have agitated all you global warmers out there. In case you all didn't know, the UN is having a little climate conference in Poland right now. And an Associated Press report from Poland says, "Scientists studying the changing nature of the Earth's climate say they have completed one crucial task -- proving beyond a doubt that global warming is real. Now they have to figure out just what to do about it."

Aren't you thrilled? The UN has figured it out! The debate is over! And right now more than 10,000 UN delegates and environmentalists are sitting in Poland and working out the kinks of their plans to cap greenhouse emissions around the world. They are itching at the chance to make the evil rich countries pay up.

Let's look at the weather map. It snowed yesterday in Houston, Texas. The temperature in Siberia was around 80 degrees below zero. Southern California is headed for record low temperatures with snow in some LA suburbs. The Earth hasn't warmed a bit in the last eight years. In fact, it has been cooling slightly. The ocean waters off California are cooling. In the midst of all of this the United Nations is now telling us that it has been absolutely proven that man is causing global warming and that we must act right now to stop it or 30% of all plant and animal life on earth will perish.

Lawrence E. Buja is a climate change researcher from Boulder, Colorado. He says, "The skeptics are doing a good job because they are making us present ironclad proof." Ok .. what proof? Please show me the direct link between human activity and global warming. Please explain to me how a recent study showing that the sun was responsible for half of the warming in the recent decades is incorrect. Please tell me how the world can be warming when 2008 is set to be the coolest year of the decade. Please tell me why the Antarctic ice caps are actually growing.

Proven? Proven how? With computer models. Not with actual scientific testing and fact, but with models ... computer models programmed by humans with or without biases who can insert or leave out data as they see fit.

Then that leads me to this ... a US Senate Minority Report is about to be released. It contains testimony from over 650 scientists (note that they are all scientists and not just ENVIRONMENTALISTS) who are criticizing the man-made climate claims of this UN conference.

But it won't really matter. According to the powers that be, the debate is closed. But just remember that it isn't based on the science, it is based on a need to redistribute the wealth throughout the world - make the richer nations pay for their evil emissions.

Why go through all this trouble? Because if the UN can convince the world that man (more specifically, Americans) are endangering the rest of the world then the UN can embark on a program of weakening the American economy - and us - while strengthening the third world at our expense. This about control and power, it is not about saving the Earth. There was a reason that the Kyoto Treaty left out nations like China while punishing the economies of the United States. This whole scam may not really be on your radio screen right now ... but the time is coming when you will really need to pay some close attention.

This story found on Drudge this morning: "UN Blowback: More than 650 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims"

Yup ... it looks like some scientists are going to launch a bit of an attack on this UN global warming conference underway in Poland. Read the story for details ... but I do want to include some of the quotes from these scientists here in the Nuze. Enjoy:

  • "I am a skeptic...Global warming has become a new religion." - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.

  • Warming fears are the "worst scientific scandal in the history...When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists." - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.

  • "The models and forecasts of the UN IPCC "are incorrect because they only are based on mathematical models and presented results at scenarios that do not include, for example, solar activity." - Victor Manuel Velasco Herrera, a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico

  •
  • "It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don't buy into anthropogenic global warming." - U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.

  • "Even doubling or tripling the amount of carbon dioxide will virtually have little impact, as water vapour and water condensed on particles as clouds dominate the worldwide scene and always will." - . Geoffrey G. Duffy, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the Universityof Auckland, NZ.

  • "After reading [UN IPCC chairman] Pachauri's asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it's hard to remain quiet." - Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society's Probability and Statistics Committee and is an Associate Editor of Monthly Weather Review.

  • "For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?" - Geologist Dr. David Gee the chairman of the science committee of the 2008 International Geological Congress who has authored 130 plus peer reviewed papers, and is currently at Uppsala University in Sweden.

  • "Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp...Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact." - Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch UN IPCC committee.

There are many more quotes in the story ... give it a read.

If not .. you could miss some real goodies out there. The link to Jamie's blog is always right here on Nealz Nuze, but in case you have overlooked it, here's a goodie from today that might interest you:

Blagojevich questions censored on Transition site

President-elect Barack Obama's Transition today launched "Open for Questions," a Digg-style feature allowing citizens to submit questions, and to vote on one another's questions, bringing favored inquiries to the top of the list.

It was suggested when it launched that the tool would bring uncomfortable questions to the fore, but the results so far are the opposite: Obama's supporters appear to be using -- and abusing -- a tool allowing them to "flag" questions as "inappropriate" to remove all questions mentioning Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich from the main pages of Obama's website.

The Blagojevich questions -- many of them polite and reasonable -- can be found only by searching words in them, like "Blagojevich," which produces 35 questions missing from the main page of the site.

"Given the current corruption charges involving Blagojevich, will serious' campaign finance reform that takes money completely out of politics through publicly funded elections be a priority in the first term?" asked Metteyya of Santa Cruz, California. "This submission was removed because people believe it is inappropriate," reads the text underneath it.

Also removed as "inappropriate":

"In light of the recent corruption scandals (Blagojevich, Rangel, Jefferson, Stevens, etc) that have dominated the political scene,is there any ethics legislation being crafted to actually curb corruption and prevent another wave of nixonian cynicism?", a question from "lupercal," of Gainesville.

And: "Is Barack Obama aware of any communications in the last six weeks between Rod Blagojevich or anyone representing Rod Blagojevich and any of Obama's top aides?", a question from Phil from Pennsylvania.

Declaring a question "inappropriate" is different from merely voting it down; it's calling foul on a question, not just disapproving of it.

Community reporting systems like this are often vulnerable to abuse from committed partisans -- YouTube has wrestled with a parallel problem -- and the only solution is conscious efforts to remedy it.

So far, Obama's team does not seem to have stepped in to allow uncomfortable questions to rise to the top, and instead is allowing his supporters to sanitize the site.

In November, the federal government registered a record budget deficit. We are talking some big, big money folks. This $700 billion financial bailout plan doesn't help either. But the gap we are talking about for November - that would be the amount of revenue collected by the government compared to what it paid out - was $164.4 billion.

But that's not the scary part. The scary part is that this puts you, the taxpayers, on the hook for a record $1 trillion deficit for the year. This is more than double the all-time high for a deficit. And we thought that Republicans were big spenders.

Take a look at your children and grandchildren. You really won't have bear the brunt of this --- but they most certainly will. When the United States can't pay its bills, where do we go for a bailout? The UN? Now think about that for a moment. What if our fiscal irresponsibility - fueled by political lust for power - leads us to the impending economic collapse of the United States. Look, our children are already on the hook for about $50 trillion that we don't have. Let's say we do go to the UN or some other nations for bailout money. Are they going to treat us the same way our government is treating the banks and automakers? If they come up with their cash are they going to demand a stake in America?

While you think about this .. let me bounce something else off you. We are here because, as I said, of the political lust for power. Once these people arrive in Washington, once they taste the power and perks, all they want is more. The bulk of our congressman and senators will sell out the future of our children for more political power to day. Easy as that.

The CEO of American Airlines says that any plans for a federal stimulus should include the aviation industry. This includes more spending on runways and air traffic control. The airlines themselves, though, don't seem to be asking for a handout ... yet.

American Airlines CEO Gerald Arpey says, "The airline industry should be certainly at the top of the list of industries that are deserving of economic stimulus as it relates to infrastructure because we have let the infrastructure in aviation deteriorate."

I mean, what can you say, folks? Yesterday we found out that Jesse Jackson Jr. is "Senate Candidate 5" in the criminal complaint of Blagojevich. Senate Candidate 5 is the one that would be considered for the senate seat, but only if he could raise $1 million in campaign contributions for Blagojevich.

So Jesse Jackson Jr. had a little press conference. He says that he hasn't done anything wrong. And maybe that is true. But will this be enough to ensure that he will NOT be the next Senator from Illinois.

I will give Jesse Jr. credit for knowing that there is no Constitutional right to vote in a presidential election in this country. He has introduced a resolution calling for a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing that right. That puts him way ahead of most of the elected representatives and people in this country.

A school resource officer by the name of Derek Jones in a Massachusetts better be looking for another job. You see, Derek had the idea that government school children need to be trained to defend themselves if they are ever being held by a gunman. Common sense and government schools don't mix very well .. and I'm afraid Derek may learn the hard way.

Naturally, his idea didn't go over too well. His proposal was to teach children fifth grade and up (that's about 10 years old) to fight back against a gunman than came into the classroom. They would learn techniques on how to use their backpacks or textbooks to fight or defend themselves.

Derek says, "Do we want the kids to sit there and literally have the gunman be able to shoot them one at a time? Or do we want to allow instincts to kick in and basically allow them to protect themselves against the threat?" Boy, isn't that the painful truth? Most parents don't want to answer that question. Instead, they are worried about how the children would handle the training emotionally. It may frighten them!

Protecting yourself from an attack? Is this guy nuts? Doesn't he know that the standard practice in any school - right up to and through college - is to sit there and wait for your turn to be attacked?

Needless to say, I don't think government school children in Massachusetts will be getting this training any time soon.

Obama wants to make amends with the Muslim world by giving a speech in a major Islamic capital soon after he is inaugurated.

Obama also wants to "do what is traditional" during the swearing in ceremony and use all three of his names: Barack Hussein Obama. That ought to go over well with the birth certificate crowd!

I've been asking this question .. when you say "buy American" does that include the foreign cars that are made in the United States?

The White House and Democrats say they have come to a vague agreement on the auto bailout, but they forgot one group: the Republicans. Remember - in reality this is not a bailout of the automakers. It is a bailout of the automaker's UNIONS.

Healthcare reform will begin in the form of an economic stimulus package, thanks to Max Baucus. Another day older and deeper in debt.

The conspiracy continues ... news articles about Obama meeting with Blagojevich have suddenly disappeared from the Internet.

A Senator from Louisiana said, on the chamber floor, that the auto bailout is "ass-backwards." I thought that was bass ackwards.

Could a private equity firm end up reaping two sets of benefits - one from the auto bailout and one from the Treasury's financial bailout?

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

Yesterday during the program we were graced with the news that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (a Democrat) was arrested. The very short story is that the guy is a complete corrupt footstool. I mean, seriously .. the FBI says it has phone call recordings of this guy - a sitting governor - trying to sell of Barack Obama's senate seat. And that is just the first page! There are 76 pages full of different schemes this guy had going .. like telling the Chicago Tribune that he would give the paper financial help if it agreed to fire some of its editorial writers that were critical of him.

So there are a couple of issues at stake here. Let's start out slow.

First of all, what do you do about Barak Obama's senate seat? The seat still has to be filled. Clearly this creep isn't going to be appointing anyone, so now what? There are talks of the Senate taking over the process. Either way, we know the rules .. It's a black seat now ... a historical black seat ... so at least we know that whoever is appointed or selected or chosen or whatever to fill that seat is going to absolutely, positively, without question have to be black. And no ... there no discrimination here, is there now?

But on to far juicier things .. did Barack Obama's transition team know this was going on? Heck, did Barack Obama himself know this was going on? That question is already getting testy. Yesterday Obama said that he hasn't had any contact with the governor or his office. But there is a statement out there from David Axelrod that he made on November 23, 2008 saying, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." Of course now the Obama transition team has come out and said that Axelrod "misspoke" back in November. Don't you just like this "misspoke" angle? I think "screwed up" is more appropriate. But that is about all we will get for now until the FBI releases more information about the recorded phone calls.

So the next step is .. let's try to figure out how close was Barack Obama to this guy. Even if they weren't close, shouldn't this say SOMETHING about the political culture that produced Barack Obama? From what I can tell, Obama endorsed Blagojevich for governor in 2002 and 2006. He also happened to serve as a top advisor to him during his 2002 run. Guess who was also in the picture? Rahm Emanuel. It can be said that Obama and Emanuel were among Blagojevich's top strategists when he won in 2002.

In 2002, on a Chicago TV show, Obama had the following exchange:

Obama: "Right now, my main focus is to make sure that we elect Rod Blagojevich as Governor, we..."
Host: "You working hard for Rod?"
Obama: "You betcha"
Host: "Hot Rod?"
Obama: "That's exactly right"

And more recently, in 2006, Obama spoke at the Illinois State Fair on behalf of Blagojevich.

Bottom line .. you need to remember that our next president came from the same political culture as did this corrupt governor. Most of Obama's myrmidons don't realize it, but Obama won his first race for office not by getting more votes than the other folks, but by arranging to have his opponents - ALL of them - kicked off the ballot. Now if that doesn't carry the stench of Chicago-style politics ...

Today, Oliver North will be on the show right out of the gate for the national show, 10:05AM ET. Up for discussion, his book, American Heroes.

I've been telling you about this for a while .. the mayors of this country are lining up at the federal government trough. Our own city of Atlanta, home of our radio mother ship News Talk 750 WSB, (Where, by the way, you can stream my show from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern time) So it's about time that we found out exactly what your mayors are asking for. We know they want billions to fund "ready-to-go" infrastructure projects. They say these will create jobs. So here are some examples of the projects that the mayors of this country want to fund with your tax dollars.

These are all thanks to Reason Magazine ... a nice little Libertarian magazine.

  • The "O'Malley Road Reconstruction" in Anchorage, Alaska, that will cost $30 million and employ a whopping 300 people
  • The police facility in Lake Havasu City, Arizona will get solar panels at a cost of $400,000 and employ 75 people
  • In Beloit, Wisconsin, $1.428 million would be spent on stormwater settlement ponds and give jobs to five people .. about 25% of the population of Wisconsin
  • The storm sewer system in St. John, Indiana needs "additional capacity." That'll cost $275,000 and employ 15 people
  • Manhattan, Kansas wants to pay $71,250 to coordinate its traffic lights on Fort Riley Boulevard!
  • And from our home of Atlanta, Georgia ... for $4 million we can install "reflective or green roofing" on unspecified buildings

All of these are considered by local politicians to be urgent projects worthy of federal bailout money. When I say that there are thousands more, that is not an exaggeration. Their request for pork projects is over 800 pages long.

McCain voters were more intelligent than Obama voters. Deal with it.

Since Friday of last week, workers at a Chicago window and door maker factory have refused to leave. Last week, Bank of America canceled financing for Republic Windows and Doors and the workers were given three days' notice. So they decided to stay in order to ensure that they would receive their severance and accrued vacation pay.

Yesterday, Bank of American finally came through and extended credit to the Chicago factory. "A limited amount of additional loans" has been given so that the company can resolve the claims of the employees.

Now, in this case I am on the side of the workers. They earned this money, this severance, this vacation pay. The taxpayers of this country sent mucho dinero to Bank of America just so that they would continue making loans like this ... loans to businesses so that they could fulfill their commitments. What was BOA going to use this money for? Executive bonuses? This time, unless you give me a good reason not to, I'm saying the unions got one right.

I'm hearing this more and more often these days. The ever-present wealth envy has settled (for the time being) on the idea that evil, nasty, putrid, scummy, disgusting, horrible, noxious rich people just don't pay taxes, and it's about time someone come along and make them pony up. I've already read for you several emails from people complaining that they know for an absolute fact that rich people are rich because they don't pay their taxes ... and they know this because they know a CPA somewhere and their CPA friend told them so.

Just a question: If the evil rich aren't paying their taxes, then just how is it that the Imperial Federal Government is collecting about 40% of all income taxes paid from the top 1% of income earners? Somebody 'splain that to me please.

Lee Iacocca says that now is not the time for Congress to be suggesting that the executives of the auto industry be ousted.

I've told you about how Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein want to pick the winners and losers in the auto bailout. The electric car companies are looking to capitalize from the government trough.

SOCIALISM ADVANCES

Again .. the definition of Socialism? That's when the government not only controls but OWNS the means of production. Today we read that the government is thinking about taking part ownership in the Big Three automakers in return for bailout cash. When would these government shares in these companies ever be returned to the private sector? My guess is that would not happen so long as Barack Obama is in office. Government ownership of major industries is really his cup of tea.

The Democrats and unions hate it that George Bush is so involved in the discussions over a Big Three bailout plan. After all, haven't the people said they want Barack Obama to be their president? What is Bush doing hanging around for so long? Now what really ticks off the Democrat-union crowd is that the Bush Administration is insisting that the bailout money only go to automakers who show that they have a restructuring plan that would actually work. In other words, if the automaker is doomed .. why throw good taxpayer money at them? What's happening here is that the president is looking for a plan to actually make Ford, Chrysler and GM viable industries again, while the Democrats are mainly interesting in keeping the United Auto Workers strong. Different goals, different strategies. The UAW needs to go away ... they've done their damage, they should now just sit back and let the grownups try to fix things.

If global warming is real, then can someone tell me why the oceans are getting cooler? Yup .. been getting cooler for a while now. In fact, the ocean temperatures off the coast of California are at a 20 year low. Not 2 year ... 20 year.

Oh, you can bet the global warming crowd has some excuse. Cyclical, they say. Odd, isn't it, that the ocean temperatures can be cyclical, but global temperatures cannot. When the oceans warm or cool it is all part of some cycle. When the earth warms or cools man did it with his SUVs and coal-fired power plants.

Someday most of you will understand that this whole man-made global warming scare has been ginned up by anti-capitalist moonbats whose real desire is to cripple capitalism.

Carleton University is in Ottawa, Canada. At Carleton the students participate in the annul Shinearama fundraiser. This is an annual fundraising event involving students from 65 colleges and universities across Canada. Carleton has been involved for 25 of the 50 years of the Shinearama; but no longer.

The Shinearama, you see, has been raising money for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. That's not good, at least insofar as the Carleton University Student's Association is concerned. The student association was told that Cystic Fibrosis only affects white people. This meant that the disease was not inclusive enough. So ... Carleton University is out. Now these bright students have figured out that Cystic Fibrosis actually affects some people of color - and they're looking for a way to get out of this mess.

If they hadn't been so politically correct they wouldn't be there in the first place. Idiots.

THIS WON'T BE THE LAST AUTO BAILOUT

This $15 billion loan package for the automakers is just something to tide them over. Barney Frank says that he is just waiting for the Obama administration in order to get a real long-term bailout for the automakers next March. Barney says, "We don't think the $15 billion is enough to get them into March, but given the administration's insistence ... that's where we are now."

But there is one sure thing right now. No matter what, there will be some sort of "Car Czar." I've even heard reports that this person could be included in the presidential cabinet. So if we are going to have a government bureaucrat in charge of re-tooling the auto industry ... and you just know its coming ... let's make it a good one. My vote is for Mitt Romney.

Not that anyone cares, but where is it written that some bureaucrat chosen by politicians has any better of an idea how to run the auto companies than some private businessmen do?

But in the end, what we are getting from this proposal is still nothing but fluff. Like a requirement that these CEOs sell their corporate jets. Don't you think that Congress has more important things to worry about when it comes to the viability of these companies? Let's start with these horrendous union contracts.

For those of you who want to read this proposal for yourself ... have at it. [pdf]

Ben Bernanke, just the other day, laid out some plans to help distressed homeowners refinance into more affordable, federally insured mortgages through the "Hope for Homeowners" program.

Now get this .. recent data suggests that many of the borrows who have received help refinancing their mortgages earlier this year are re-defaulting on their payments. Aren't you shocked? A top US bank regulator says, "Put simply, it shows that over half of mortgage modifications seemed not to be working after six months."

The data found that after three months, 36% of borrowers who restructured their mortgages re-defaulted. After six months, the rate of people re-defaulting jumped to 53%. And after eight months, almost 60% of restructured mortgages had re-defaulted.

These are people who should never have owned a home in the first place. They aren't programmed to be owners; they're renters through and through. They don't have the sense of responsibility or maturity to deal with the intricacies of home ownership. If these people were in apartments I guarantee you that they would be consistently late on their rent ... begging to the property manager month after month to just give them another week to come up with the money. In the meantime they would make sure they had the latest wireless device and their rug rats had all the proper video games. Priority number one would be a new flat-screen so that they can really get a good look at Entertainment Tonight and the lottery drawings every evening.

Let's just get it over with. Foreclose on these people and send them to some apartment rental agency.

Durned deadbeats.

LIBERALS ARE WORRIED ABOUT OBAMA

I am just loving these stories of liberals being worried that Obama isn't progressive enough. Don't ya just love that word "progressive"? Right now what really has their boxers in a bunch are Obama's cabinet choices. They feel like the progressives aren't getting the appointment they deserve. I bet this isn't the change these people expected .. and I'm lovin' it.

Oh .. by the way. "Progressive" is a word socialists came up with to call themselves when the socialist label started causing them problems. But socialism is cool right now ... so they're out of the closet.

Dear Mr. Boortz.Do you have an agent. If yes, why? If no I am sure you know people in the radio talk show business who do.You or they have agents to get the best pay and benefits possible. How is this any different from what unions do?Are employees supposed to trust management like investors trusted Wall Street to be honest and responsible to their employees or shareholders.I don't think so.Employees like shareholders need an advocate to make sure they are given fair compensation.Employees making $30 an hour are no more overpaid than you are.Stop being a hippocrite.

No, Trent. I don't have an agent. Don't want one. I'll take the responsibility myself. By the way; people usually put two spaces (and sometimes about 28 days, but that's another issue) after a period. Makes it easier to read your stuff.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden are meeting with Al Gore today to discuss his man-made global warming hoax. Oh goodie! A meeting with Owlgore!

David Horowitz says that all you Obama birth certificate people are suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome and need to "shut up." I'm with David.

Obama still says that he is willing to talk to Iran directly and offer economic incentives to stop its nuclear program. You know, as nuclear technology spreads we could go broke (if we weren't broke already) paying every half-assed nation out there not to develop nuclear bombs.

Here's an idea. Let the Ford Foundation save Ford. How much money does the Ford Foundation have? Try $13 billion.

So when do you think that we will get the call for a bailout for the newspaper industry? Are they too big to fail as well?

A writer for The New Republic wants Barack Obama to resurrect the Federal Writers Project and bail out laid-off journalists. Hey ... I'm a writer. I don't have a book in the works right now. Waiting for that million dollar advance. Where's my bailout?

See? I told you I was a writer. Here's today's column on Townhall.com. Trouble is, I don't get paid for these. If they would pay me I would correct my own spelling.

I know that things are rough out there, but this is when we need to be even more wary of this "spread the wealth" mentality. People are more likely to buy into the rhetoric when they are down. Just remember that it sounds good in principal (if you're not all that fond of little inconveniences like property rights) but the realities are far, far worse.

Here's what I mean, folks. How many of your saw Barack Obama on Meet the Press this weekend? I'm going to give you a few quotes from Obama, and you tell me that this guy isn't dangerous for our economic prosperity ... not to mention freedom:

"I think the important principle, because sometimes when we start talking about taxes, and I say I want a more balanced tax code, people think, well, that's class warfare. No. It turns out that our economy grows best when the benefits of the economy are most widely spread. And that has been true historically."

Here's the clip or watch it here:

Know what? I would like a more balanced tax code myself. For one, I would like for more people to actually pay income taxes. How's that for balance. Right now 43% of income earners pay no income taxes at all ... and what little bit the next seven percent pay (bringing us up to 50%) amounts to about three percent of all income taxes. In the meantime the top one percent pay about 39% of all income taxes while earning about 19% of all income. That's not balanced ... so more balance sounds fine to me.

Now another Obamamabit:

" ...part of what I'm hoping to introduce as the next president is a new ethic of responsibility where we say that if you're laying off workers, the least you can do when you're making $25 million a year is give up some of your compensation and some of your bonuses ... That kind of notion of shared benefits and burdens is something that I think has been lost for too long, and it's something that I'd like to see restored."

Here's the clip or watch it here:

Restored how? By government edict? What are we heading for here, government control over executive compensation? Maybe government control over ALL compensation. Yeah .. that's the ticket, isn't it? We'll let the private sector continue to own and operate the businesses, but we'll put the government in control of setting all salaries.

By the way ... do you know what you call an economic system where the means of production are privately owned but controlled by government. No, it's not socialism. Under socialism the government owns the businesses. And it's not capitalism. Under capitalism ownership and control is private. So ... what's the word? A very few of you know ... and the rest of you are about to find out. It's the "F" word. Fascism. So .. what does that make Obama?

If the people had it their way .. there wouldn't be a bailout. Thanks to you, Congress will probably not support the bailout ... at least not the full Monte. Although that is very disappointing to some like Nancy Pelosi, Carl Levin, Diane Feinstein. But the White House is currently working with Congress to give the Big Three up to $17 billion in emergency loans. Along with that loan would come a "car czar." Oh boy. Another czar. This would be a government bureaucrat who would be in charge of any bailout for the auto makers. There is a better person to oversee the bailout: a bankruptcy judge. At least a bankruptcy judge would allow the businesses to restructure themselves, rather than having a government appointed bureaucrat making those decisions. And I guarantee you that if we give these automakers a bailout now ... they WILL be back in a few years if not months ... maybe weeks. You just wait.

Meanwhile, Obama says that if top auto executives don't agree to drastic reforms, they should be fired. He said, "If this management team that's currently in place doesn't understand the urgency of the situation and is not willing to make the tough choices and adapt to these new circumstances then they should go." Did Obama mention the need for the UAW leaders and union members to come to the reform table? Are you nuts? Of course he didn't. Oh that's right, Obama got elected thanks to the unions and these CEOs are evil and greedy. I keep forgetting that.

HOW'S THIS FOR INFLATION

Talking Zimbabwe here. The inflation rate is 230,000,000%. No, that's not a typo. And it looks like other African leaders are finally getting ready to do something about that vicious idiot Robert Mugabe. Here's the story.

Argentina is battling its own auto crisis. So here is the government's solution. Are you ready?

Automakers in Argentina will sell basic models of their cars AT COST. Meanwhile, they will receive government subsidized loans in order to keep their companies afloat and keep people in their jobs. Each automaker is required to offer two of its most basic models for this plan. They can choose from one of three financing packages. These packages will be financed .. are you ready for this .. by the social security system.

The Argentinean Industry Secretary says, "We have agreed with the plants that these cars will be offered without a profit margin and the dealerships will also reduce their profit margin."

Don't you love this "we have agreed" stuff? That means "We have instructed the automakers ...."

So first Argentina moves to seize private pension plans and blend them into their social security system. They suddenly they're talking about their social security system financing the automakers. Argentina is headed for disaster. Let's hope they crash in time for us to lean some lessons.

Here's a little study that came out of Berkeley ... the brains of higher income children function differently than the brains of low-income children. What they did is they tested the brain activity of 9 and 10-year-old kids. They were split into two groups - those who come from evil rich parents and those that come from so-called "less fortunate" households. Then they sat the children down and made them watch sequences of triangles on a screen. Every now and then, a slighted skewed triangle would flash on the screen and the children were instructed to click a button when they saw one. Meanwhile the researchers measured their brain activity in their prefrontal cortex. This is apparently the part of the brain that affects "executive functions" like personality, decision making and social behavior.

You can imagine the results. The children from lower incomes did poorly on the test. Not only did they perform poorly, but in some cases the lower income children responded comparably to "people who have had a portion of their frontal lobe destroyed by a stroke."

What conclusion does this lead us to? The evil rich have highly privileged children not just because of money but because the children are able to develop their brains.

I have at least two guesses here. First, children growing up in wealthy households have their minds challenged more often than children raised in poor households. It simply comes with the territory. If, as an adult, you earn your living (such as it is) with muscle power rather than with mind power .. then it should be no surprise that your children might lag just a bit when it comes to intellectual abilities. By the way .. those who make their livings with their minds are referred to as "privileged," while those who use muscle are referred to as the "working class."

The way to solve this, of course, is to take some of the money away from the "privileged" children who were raised by parents who made their living with their brains, and redistribute it to the children of parents from the so-called "working class."

What state leads the nation in Motorcycle fatalities? Well, that would be Florida. In 2007 there were 530 motorcycle fatalities in Florida. California had 495 and Texas with 375. Florida and Texas have no helmet laws.

Now ... before you start in with these "you're no Libertarian" emails ... let me say that I am against helmet laws, though I think you are an idiot to ride without one. But .. there must be one provision. The law should state that your riding without a helmet constitutes an implied consent for the state to seize every penny of your assets; you money, your home and the rest of your belongings, to be sold to compensate the state's taxpayers for any money spent on patching up your empty head after you come off your bike.

By the way .. loud bikes don't save lives, they piss people off.

THE CLOWNS CARS ROLL INTO WASHINGTON

The clown cars have rolled into Washington.  The Big Three CEOs drove their vehicles all the way from Detroit.  All except one.  GM CEO Rick Wagoner did drive a 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid most of the way to Washington.  But then, once he got close to the Capitol he hopped out of his Malibu and drove the last 25 miles or so in a 2011 Chevy Volt.  How did the Chevy Volt get to the pick-up point in Washington?  Well someone had to ship it there.

I mean, this really has turned into one huge PR stunt.  It's a sales pitch .. let me drive a prototype of this new electric car (that won't be available for another 2 years and will probably cost around $50,000) and people will see the future of our company.  The good news for Rick Wagoner is that you didn't need to ship a car to Washington to impress Nancy Pelosi .. she's already on your bandwagon.  It's the people of this country that you need to impress.  And I have a clue for you .. the American people have a very short attention span.  They may see your Chevy Volt now, but if you can't give it to them tomorrow .. you are still SOL.

Meanwhile in Great Britain, the sale of electric cars has fallen by more than half.  While the Government's climate change advisory body predicted that electric cars would sell like hot cakes .. they were proven very wrong by that silly little thing called the free market.  Only 156 electric cars were sold in Great Britain so far this year.

Oh .. by the way, we learned yesterday why the consumers should pick the winners and losers in the marketplace and not the politicians.  California Senator Diane Feinstein sent a little letter to some of her colleagues on Capitol Hill demanding that a share of any bailout money be spent on an upstart manufacturer of electric cars in San Jose.  That would be Tesla Motors, and they haven't sold a single electric car at retail yet.  Seems there are some cost overrun problems.  Anyone want to buy an electric sports car for about $140,000?  Electric cars may be a reality one day, but let the consumers pick the companies that make it ... not the politicians.  The decision should be made on the basis of consumer appeal, value and cost - not on the basis of political power.

AL FRANKEN WANTS WHAT??

As of yesterday, funny guy Al Franken was losing in the Minnesota Senate race.  With 98% of the precincts reporting, Norm Coleman led by 316 votes.

Recognizing that defeat was near, Franken did what any sane, rational person would do .. he asked for the government to engage in a "systematic, forensic search" for 133 ballots missing in Minneapolis.  Oh and by the way, this specific precinct heavily favors the Democrats.

I'd be curious to know the final price tag of all this funny business.  How much taxpayer money will be spent doing a "systematic forensic search" for ballots that probably don't even exist!  I mean we are talking about having to interview every single person who touched or transported ballots in that district.  Anyone at the polling place, all the drivers of the vehicles that carried the ballots, each and every single employee that works in any warehouse where these ballots might have been stored.

Are you just a ready as I am to have this darn election in this history books?  Al Franken failed at talk radio .. maybe after this Senate race he can take his bitter self back to New York and write some more hilarious stuff for SNL.

UNIONS GAINING POWER

The labor unions in this country are vying for more power .. and there is little to stop them from obtaining this power thanks to a Democrat-led Washington.  But here's a little taste of what the labor unions are trying to do in Australia.  Don't worry.  This kind of power could be coming to a business near you.  A lot sooner than you think, too.

The Australian government is considering something called the Fair Work Bill.  What this bill will do is give labor unions power that they have not seen in 20+ years.. maybe even more.  As you can probably imagine, there is nothing "fair" about the bill.  Just like this bill in the United States - the Free Employee Choice Act - has nothing to do with free choice.

The Wall Street Journal gives a basic explanation:

The Fair Work Bill is, by any measure, a massive boost for unions. It would make it possible for them to enter private workplaces and examine both union and non-union pay records -- trampling on individuals' right to privacy. When disputes occur, the bill gives wide powers to a third-party tribunal to arbitrate. It would effectively allow for a form of "pattern bargaining," giving unions that strike a deal with one business more leverage to wield it over other firms in the same industry.

The bill is especially damaging for small and medium-sized businesses -- the economic backbone of middle Australia. "Fair Work" would reimpose mandatory unfair dismissal laws on businesses employing fewer than 100 workers. It would strike down Mr. Howard's Australian Workplace Agreements, which allowed businesses to strike flexible contracts with individual workers. "Low-paid workers" -- a phrase that isn't clearly defined under the bill, meaning it could apply to a wide range of employees -- would be given increased bargaining powers.

And you know the worst part, folks?  The government knows what this is going to do for the economy.  In a memo about the ripple effects of this "Fair Work" bill, the government says, "If employers perceive that there is a risk of an unfair dismissal claim being made, then this could increase the cost of employing workers and may reduce the incentive of businesses to employ workers."

And yet they still want to do it.  Amazing.

There has been amazing progress in Iraq.  You'll find a tough time finding coverage in the media ... but we managed to discover this Krauthammer column.

Boy does this lady get it right! It's sad when it takes a Canadian to point out the harsh realities of our American society and our distorted view of the role of government.  Here's a peak: "Socialism, advocated by both Obama and Layton, has sucked the soul out of humanity wherever it was ever attempted, but that's the road North America is now careening down."

Obama may bypass the Congress to implement a national cap-and-trade system by creating regulations through the EPA.  Coal industry, are you listening??  Remember, Obama said he was going to bankrupt you.

Now we have this column in The Wall Street Journal saying we should end drug prohibition in the US.  Absolutely right.

No credit for George Bush.  Just wouldn't be politically correct, would it.  Maybe history will treat him better.

The Wall Street Journal says that we should free Plaxico Burress because New York's gun laws are unconstitutional.  I second that.

Is Barack Obama seriously going to consider putting John Edwards on his staff?  Yeah, put him in charge of the interns.

Since Barack Obama was elected president, there has been a 42% national increase in the sale of guns.  If that doesn't tell you something ...

From global warming, to Islam, to asteroids .. the UN has a lot on its plate right now.

President Bush has apparently purchased a house in Dallas.  Gawd I bet this guy just can't wait to kick his heels back in Texas and be done with all this.

So an executive from Chrysler says that if the taxpayers don't bailout the automakers, our country is going to go into a depression.  Talk about fear mongering.  In fact, wait a minute, he says that if just one of these car companies fail, then it could trigger a depression.  I said it yesterday .. talk about arrogance!

But a vast majority of you people aren't buying it.  In fact, a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll found that 61% of Americans oppose government assistance for the automakers.  But Nancy Pelosi is still up there preaching that bankruptcy is "not an option."  Look .. if bankruptcy isn't an option, why do we have bankruptcy courts?  What Pelosi meant to say was that bankruptcy wasn't a political option.  Well if it's not bankruptcy then it must be a bailout.  Can't Nancy take a hint?

Here's a great article from the Wall Street Journal explaining why GM's plan is all smoke and mirrors ... there are no real changes.  No details.  Their business plan is flawed.

Meanwhile there is still the union.  UAW President Ron Gettelfinger says that the union is willing to change its contract.  Oh yeah .. that makes me feel so good.  The union is willing to delay billions of dollars in payments to a union-run healthcare trust.  And remember the Job Banks program I told you about?  That's the one where union members are paid 95% of their salaries to sit in a room and play Sudoku all day long .. well the union says that it would be willing to "modify" that program.  Modify??  Are you freaking kidding me?  Not only should that program be the first to go, but these union contracts should be scrapped all together.  And there is one easy way to do this.  Bankruptcy.

It's no secret that Chicago mayor Richard Daley is in love with government and is most assuredly a union-friendly politician.  So when you wake up one morning and Chicago is covered in snow, don't go looking to government employees to plow those streets clean so that the achievers can get to work.

Nope.  In efforts to save money, Daley says that city crews would only plow streets during weekday union business hours, rather than working overtime.  That means they will end the day at 9pm and cannot resume work until the next morning at 7am.  Oh and weekends?  Forget about it.

Ok, what's really going on here, folks?  Mayor Daley could probably save a heck of a lot more money by canceling those union contracts and employ workers that are willing to work those overtime hours at a reasonable rate.  But no.  In Chicago, the labor unions will keep their jobs and plow less.

SPEAKING OF UNIONS ...

Remember the tragic story of the worker who was trampled on Black Friday?  Well now the union advocates are trying to say that his death could have been prevented if Wal-Mart had been unionized.  Give me a break.

Wal-Mart Watch, which is supposedly a "public education campaign," has one purpose in life .. to make Wal-Mart embrace its "moral responsibility."  You see, without a unionized workforce, Wal-Mart (the evil corporation that it is) is taking advantage of its workers who are being denied their rights unionize by intimidation!

Moving right along .. David Nassar is the executive director for this bunch of clowns.  He says that Wal-Mart workers, like the man who was trampled, "have no voice and no seat at the table to determine how they are treated."  He says that workers across this nation should have their say when it comes to Black Friday operations.  So the business managers and the owners don't know what policies are best ... only the unions do.

Then he gets to the real point of all this: passing the card check bill.  He say that "Wal-Mart's stubbornness makes the Employee Free Choice Act the next best alternative ... The legislation will make it easier for workers to form unions should they choose to do so -- and more difficult for Wal-Mart to thwart the process, which it has done time and time again."  He even admits it, folks!  He says that this card check bill would make it more difficult to Wal-Mart get in the way of unionization.

Wal-Mart.  The first to go when the unionization-by-intimidation bill gets passed ... and then everybody pays more at Wal-Mart!

This story is from Great Britain.  But it is only a matter of time before it becomes a reality in your child's government school.  The Greenwood Junior School .. I assume that is the equivalent to an elementary school .. sent out a letter to the parents: Christmas is canceled because we want to celebrate a Muslim holiday instead.

The three day festival of Eid al-Adha .. whatever that is .. will take place between December 8th and 11th.  Since a lot of students were going to be off from school for Eid, the school thought that the traditional nativity play scheduled for later in the month would be too taxing.  The staff of the Greenwood Junior School says, "It is with much regret that we have had to cancel this year's Christmas performances. This is due to the Eid celebrations that take place next week and its effect on our performers."

After some parents complained, the school had to send out another letter saying that Christmas hasn't been canceled; only postponed.  They will be doing their Christmas play in January.

PEACEFUL RELIGION OF ISLAM

The Organization of the Islamic Conference is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations.  Well the OIC is upset that the media is referring to Islam when reporting on the terrorist attacks in India.  I've said it before folks, not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslim.  This is the world according to the OIC:

With the multiplicity of terrorist attacks perpetrated recently by deviant and fanatic individuals, the General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has noticed a tendency of a section of the media, to interpose the word "Islam" in reporting these incidences.

Islam, the religion of peace, tolerance and compassion, that sanctifies the human soul, and whose universal message is one of mutual peaceful coexistence among all the peoples of the world, regardless of their ethnicities, race, religions or languages, and which calls for kind reasoning and dialogue with all their fellow human beings, abhors and despises all such criminal acts and had enacted the utmost severe punishment for their perpetrators.

It is frustrating to see some circles, still, maliciously trying to establish conceptual link between such evil and wicked practices and Islam, the religion that condemns, scorns and outlaws them.

It is on the premise of this irrefutable fact that we, in the OIC, call upon all well-intentioned peoples of the world, not to give to these criminals any right to present Islam, a right that Islam itself denies them. Those who refer to the perpetrators, as acting on behalf of Islam, help them by offering them justification, anchor and premise that they don't have or deserve. On the other hand, the generalization of the guilt of a few aberrant misguided individuals, to engulf the adherents of a religion of 1.5 billion followers is an outrageous judgment and amounts to an illegal collective punishment on a global scale. Moreover, any attempt to implicate all Muslims in such a wicked and wanton acts goes contrary to the well established principles of international law.

It is therefore hoped that media will avoid resorting to any reference to Islam when narrating such events in order not to disseminate erroneous information that might jeopardize the basic human rights of Muslims, the world over.

So there you go.  How long until the United Nations makes it illegal for news agencies to refer to terrorists as Islamic terrorists?

The slumping economy has taken its toll on troop support and donation programs. According to MOM 4R MARINES founder Patty Lewis, the number of  donations  and packages being sent to the troops has fallen to an all-time low, while the number of homesick Marines and sailors  hoping to receive a package is at an all-time high, especially while deployed in the cold mountains of Afghanistan over the holidays. We must send them our support! Please help make this happen for a group of 1500 wonderful, fearless warriors living without any normal amenities. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN! NOW! CHRISTMAS BICYCLES

I'm gonna buy ten kids a bicycle for Christmas.  Details in a moment ... but let me tell you why I'm doing this.

I think I was about 14 or 15 years old when this fateful Christmas came to pass.  I woke up Christmas morning and rushed into the living room, there to find two brand-new shiny 10-speed bicycles.  Now these 10-speeds were something new back then.  To have a 10-speed was to be one of the most bitchin' kids on the block ... and there they were!  Two of them under the tree!

I immediately recognized that something wasn't quite right. Two brand-spanking new 10-speeds, and three kids.  One of us was going to get screwed.  One of us wasn't getting a 10-speed. ... and I had no doubt who that someone would be.  It was then that I noticed an old black bicycle sitting to the side of the room.  It was a 3-speed with the shifter on the handlebars.  Not cool.  The paint was old and faded, the tires worn.  How in the world did Santa belch out this wreck along with those two 10-speeds?  Surely this must be some sort of a huge mistake.

Well .. you know exactly where this is going.  My brother and sister were the proud owners of the new 10-speeds, and the sad old wreck was mine.  Devastation!  I couldn't believe it!  I don't think I rode that bike three times max ... and the last time I rode it I "accidently" left it somewhere where it was sure to be stolen.  It was such a sad looking bicycle that I think it is probably still right there where I left it.

So ... sometime in the next week or so I'm going to go out and buy ten brand new bicycles.  I already have mine (a Trek Pilot) so I'm going to give these away.  I need to find 10 kids who aren't looking forward to all that much on Christmas morning, and I'm asking you to be my elves.  Logistics demand that we have to limit ourselves to the Atlanta area.  I'm not shipping a bicycle to San Francisco.  So if you know a young curtain climber who is facing a glum Christmas perhaps you can send us some of the details.  Click here to send an email to the Boortz show. Tell us about the child .. and give us the necessary contact information for his or her parents.  We're going to get thousands of emails here ... and poor Cristina and Web Guy are going to have to go through them, verify and choose.  We'll try to get some pictures and let you know how this works out.

WE'VE BEEN THREATENED

By who?  That would be General Motors.  GM comes to Washington with absolutely no plan to weather the economic storm other than to grovel for taxpayer money.  Do you get that?  No plan!  Nada!  It's either hand over taxpayer funds or we're going to bail .. and if we bail we're taking the rest of the country with us.

What arrogance!

The Big Three returned to Washington in their hybrid cars.  They presented their plans in hopes that this will be enough to get them a government bailout.  But guess what?  There doesn't seem to be any really drastic changes.  Their business models haven't really changed.  Their adhesion contracts with the unions are still in place.  There aren't any secure plans to pay back the taxpayers other than creating a government oversight board.  Oh yeah ... that makes me feel so good; a government oversight board.  I feel better already.

There is some talk about symbolic cuts.  The CEO of GM and the CEO of Ford say that they will work for $1 a year if it means their companies get a taxpayer bailout.  That's great.  The problem isn't solved by paying CEOs a buck a year.  The problem is solved by bring in some management talent that will make extremely difficult decisions and them paying them a gazillion dollars if they can pull their companies out of the fire without raping the taxpayers.

There is already a provision under our laws to take care of this mess.  It's called Bankruptcy.  Chapter 11 bankruptcy, to be more exact.  Reorganization.  The magic of bankruptcy is that all outstanding contracts that are making it difficult for these automakers to compete and survive would or could be cancelled --- and that includes the contracts with the United Auto Workers.  Nancy Pelosi is saying that bankruptcy is not an option.  Why not?  For the very reason I just set forth.  Bankruptcy would not work well for the unions.

The capitalist system - free enterprise - has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system ever devised by man.  Freedom works.  And freedom means the freedom to fail if you don't live up to consumer expectations or if you allowed yourself to be drug into unprofitability by asinine union agreements and products the consumers just don't want.

My guess is that the only way these auto companies survive is if they have to fight their way through this without taxpayer help.  A bailout is the easy way out for them.  What a stupid idea it is to throw tens of billions of dollars at these companies only to have them declare bankruptcy down the road.

There's another idea floating around out there.  Let's just take Ford, GM and Chrysler and combine them into one large auto company. Oh yeah .. that ought to work.  Nothing like good old-fashioned competition to spruce up the marketplace.

And speaking of competition ... there is no way the Big Three can survive under their current agreement with the unions.  These unions cannot be allowed to bring these automakers down.  Get rid of them.

AND THE STATES COME BEGGING AS WELL

How many?  That would be 41.  That's right.  Forty-one states are now begging for taxpayer cash from Washington.

Now I don't know just how they do their budgets in other states .. but I've been watching these clowns work in Georgia for many years.  Here's the Georgia routine.  Every year the legislature passes a budget.  At some point during that fiscal year they may find that tax revenues have exceeded the budget needs.  In other words .. there's some extra money.  So what do the Georgia legislators do when they're faced with this extra cash?  Do they save it?  Do they put it into a huge contingency fund?  Do they cut taxes?  Hardly ... they oink their way back to Atlanta to pass a supplemental budget to spend the extra cash.  The legislators line up like pigs at a trough to get some of that extra money for a playground, band uniforms, a new road or something in their district.  Year after year ... the same thing.

You ought to look at the pension plans these state employees get, not just here in Georgia but across the country.  Far and away better than most private sector plans.  And these pension plans are just the beginnings of wasteful and ridiculous spending.  How about arts programs?  Any government entity that is spending money supporting "artists" who don't have the skill to produce anything that can be sold in the free market should not be marching to Washington to beg for bailout money.

Why is it when times get rough only the people have to look for ways to cut back?  Why is this always just absolutely impossible for government?

That would be Saxby Chambliss.  The voters in Georgia gave him a ten point margin and sent him back to sit on the sane side of the Senatorial aisle.  There goes the Troika's 60-seat majority, no matter what the dwarf pulls off in Minnesota.  Good job, voters.  Looks like Obama made the right call in not coming down here to campaign for the Democrat.

THE GREAT UNWASHED

Never mind that the new Visitors Center in Washington DC cost the taxpayers $621 million.  Oh and that was ONLY $550 million more than the project was originally supposed to cost.  Not to mention the fact that it was supposed to open three years ago .. but it was a government operation.  What do you expect?  I definitely want to put these people in charge of my healthcare and my retirement plan.

Anyway for Senator Harry Reid that $621 million was worth it.  You know why?  Because now he doesn't have to smell the BO from you, the great unwashed, who paid for the darn thing.

He says, "My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway ... In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

Leave it to Harry Reid to talk about how tourists smell.  You see, in his home state of Nevada they have a dry heat and people don't sweat and smell as much.  Perhaps he would like to move back there?

So now we have shelled out $621 million to make sure that the tourists have air conditioning and aren't offending Harry Reid.  They also have access to bathrooms and souvenirs.

Maybe the gift shop should capitalize on this one ... sell t-shirts in the souvenir shops: "Helping tourist smell better for just $621 million!"

Tom Daschle is heading up Barack Obama's efforts to bring universal healthcare to our country.  One of the ideas being thrown around right now is the concept of a National Health Corps ... like the Peace Corps.  Only this one would be for medical students and nursing students who would "go straight back into the community and give back to their country."  Okay .. that is twice within the past week that we have heard the team of the President-elect use this phrase "give back."  Doctors and nurses have chosen to go into a profession so that they can earn an income and make a living.  Some will choose to help out in their community and that is fine.  But when it comes to healthcare, the term "give back" assumes that doctors owe their services to their community and country. The whole "give back" idea presumes that whatever you may have was given to you, not worked for, not earned, and that there is some requirement that you give some of it back.   They did not work for it but they are required, by the government, to provide a portion of their life to someone else.  In this case it would be healthcare.

Anyway, a National Health Corps would kill two birds with one stone for Obama: universal healthcare and mandatory community service.  We'll see how far this idea goes.

"FREE" INTERNET

Have you heard about this plan proposed by the chairman of the FCC?  Kevin Martin is a Republican.  And his time as FCC chairman is short-lived.  But he wants the FCC to auction off "public airwaves", and the highest bidder would be mandated to set aside some of those airwaves for free nationwide Internet service.  Don't you just love that word?  Mandated?

The opponents are lining up.  The cell phone companies say this isn't a feasible business model to be forced to provide free Internet.  Free speech advocates are upset because the winning big would be required to block pornography and offensive content for their free Internet access.  Also, who in the world would be willing to build up the infrastructure to provide free Internet, particularly in this economy?  Oh ... and "free?"  Their ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Somebody pays ... and this stuff rolls downhill.  If it's a wireless provider setting up the "free" Internet in some local, you can bet that the people with the cell phones will be picking up the tab.

Solution?  Free market.  If the demand is there, let the free market provide it.  This is not a government function.

For all your wealth envy-types .. here's an article that will delight you (or nauseate you): the evil rich are suffering from "luxury shame."

Obama is expected to name New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson to head the Commerce Department.

I sure hope that Barack Obama is ready ... the likelihood of a nuclear or biological attack is higher than ever.

And did you know that Iran is on track to have a nuclear weapon within the first year of Obama's presidency?

Here's a real shocker .. the head of the new congressional panel to monitor the government bailout is frustrated because the government doesn't have a coherent strategy for the financial crisis.

There are some big names on David Patterson's list to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate.

Funny guy Al Franken says that he is only behind by 50 votes after election officials magically found 200 more ballots that weren't counted on Election Day.

As expected, the CEOS of the Big Three drove to Washington in their respective hybrid vehicles.

Senator Mel Martinez of Florida says that he will not seek re-election in 2010.

Apparently there is an ornament on the White House Christmas tree that supports the impeachment of President Bush.

A Utah State Senator wants the Legislature to declare its opposition to the war on Christmas.

When times get tough, the survivors get creative.  Stove Top Stuffing has a new marketing campaign in Chicago where it will provide heat at bus stops and offer people samples of their product.

A 29-year-old woman in Flint, Michigan is a mother of 10.  Yes, 10 children ranging from 2 months to 13 years old.  No mention of the baby daddy.

An activist in South Florida is helping homeless people move into foreclosed homes.

Ever heard the term "welfare brood mare?"  If you listen to my program you have.  Now we have a picture to go with the phrase.

TODAY IS THE DAY

It's Election Day in Georgia.  Today the people of Georgia may well decide how Obama is going to "rule" (his word) for the next  two years.  If people don't show up at the polls in Georgia today the Democrat-socialist machine could well roll on without brakes until the next congressional election.  It will allow them to enact policies that will be damaging not only for you but more importantly for your children and grandchildren.  I'm talking about policies like universal healthcare, federalizing pension plans, turning a blind eye to the failings of our social security system.

A vote for Jim Martin - who was campaigning with Ludacris yesterday - is more than the ousting of a Republican from the Senate.  It is a mandate for the liberal agenda .. at least that is how the Democrats would like to see it and that may well be the way things work out - especially if we give the left just this one more Senate seat.

Now .. the notes are short today.  I'm heading for the polls.

NOW THIS IS A STIMULUS PLAN

Over the weekend, Newt Gingrich sent me information on a plan to stimulate our economy.  The plan is from Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert.  Yes, he's an Aggie.  But this plan is so brilliantly simple that I have yet to have anyone give me one real reason why it wouldn't work.  I've had callers suggest reasons why it would be politically unpopular ... but that's different from not being workable.

Here's the deal.  Gohmert proposes a two-month tax holiday where the federal government would not collect any taxes from individual Americans.  No income taxes.  No payroll taxes.  You would keep all the money that you earn for two months.

Now this is a statistic that should shock you ... Americans pay over $101 billion in income taxes and $66 billion in FICA taxes every single month.  That means that if Gohmert's plan went into effect, there would be over $330 billion in American pockets.  That is money that you have earned and money that you can decide where it is spent or saved.  You pick the economic winners and losers with your money - the government doesn't get to do the choosing for you.  The government can't use it to pay executive salaries for failing companies or subsidize failing UAW contracts.  The government won't spend $50 million just to send every American a letter saying that their pithy "stimulus" check is on the way.  That's it ... you just stop all federal taxes for two months.

Will it cost us anything?  Well, no more than has already been pledged in the bailout bill.  There's $350 billion left there ... this would eat up most of it.

Gohmert says that this will create a surge in the economy because more people will have the money to buy cars, build homes, pay their mortgages, pay off their credit card bills.  It would even help the states that are currently lined up at the federal government bailout trough.

Naturally there are people who think this idea is absurd .. "Give ME the power to spend the money that I earn where I'd like?  That's outrageous!"  Here's an email I got from someone who thought it would be cute to use a fake name .. but here's the line of thinking:

Neal is the most stupid talk show host ever lived. How so? His idea of giving Americans a 2-month tax break shows how stupid he is. While he's probably saving $2000, Bill Gates saves $2 million. That's like giving the rich a raise. If you let idiot like that to run the country, it will be run to the ground like George W did it.

First of all, this isn't MY idea.  It came from Rep. Louie Gohmert.  And secondly, how envious and mindless can one person be "That's like giving the rich a raise."  Yeah .. the evil rich.  The source of all that is bad in America.

You'll hear more about this on the show and here in the Nuze.  One thing for sure.  Politicians won't like it because this would allow the people to clearly understand just how much money the federal government is seizing from their paychecks every week.  After the two month holiday, when withholding kicks in again, there might even be something akin to a tax revolt!  The only way this would work is if came from the ground up .. that means the voters up.  Let your congressman know how you feel.

HILLARY AS SECRETARY OF STATE

My how the tables are turning.  During the election, Royal and I were on opposite sides of the spectrum .. he was an Obamabot and I was a McCainite.  Now that Obama has begun his transition, I have become more optimistic while Royal is beginning to show some doubts.

So Hillary officially gets the nod to be Obama's Secretary of State.  Wow, how much fun is this going to be?

Ok so I have already been getting the emails about this one too.  Apparently you people who were all bent out of shape about Obama's birth certificate have deviated for a moment to tell me that Hillary can't legally be Secretary of State.  Yes I know, the Constitution says, "No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office."  Guess what?  It hasn't stopped presidents before and it isn't going to stop Obama now.

The question is .. what will be done with her Senate seat?  Bill Clinton?  Oh yeah .... That's going to happen.  How about Hannity?

Not all governors are looking for handouts from Washington .. Texas' Rick Perry and South Carolina's Mark Sanford, for instance.  Read what they have to say here.

Al Franken is considering asking the Senate to intervene on his behalf in order to count ballots that have already been disqualified.

State governors are stepping up to the government trough so that they can afford to increase Medicaid payments to the uninsured poor, extend unemployment benefits and increase funding for food stamps.  There is no limit whatsoever to the hunger government - at all levels - has for your money.

President Bush appeared on ABC last night.  He says that the biggest regret of his presidency was the failed intelligence in Iraq.

How's this for irony .. the UN hosting a global forum on the evils of climate change, but the forum itself is going to create 13,000 tons of carbon.

Meanwhile, if we don't listen to the suggestions of this UN climate talk, the world will be plagued with war, hunger, poverty and sickness.  The U.S. is already plagued with Democrats.  Would hunger and sickness be worse?

Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared California to be in a state of fiscal emergency.  He wants to increase taxes but Republican lawmakers aren't buying it.

People are now wondering how many lives could have been saved in Mumbai if India didn't have such staunch laws against guns.  Why the bias against letting people defend themselves?

Now we have a real reason to bailout the Big 3 ... because NASCAR may not survive if the auto makers don't get a bailout.

The union that represented the deceased worker who was trampled on Black Friday wants a full investigation into "Wal-mart's failure to provide a safe workplace."

And according to The New York Times, the reason that this employee died is because of capitalism.  Evil consumers, you know.

The corrupt mayor of Birmingham, Alabama has been arrested for bribery while his city is facing the largest bankruptcy in U.S. municipal history.

Apparently it is no longer PC to label handicapped parking spaces as "handicapped."  They must now be called "accessible parking."  Hey - I need access to that store.  Can I park there?

In New York, it is illegal for you to decorate an outdoor Christmas tree without getting a permit from the government.

A man in Germany was stripped of his gun license because he slept with the gun under his pillow and that is "irresponsible" according to the government.

Read this, and then tell me that you want the government to be in charge of anything .. Fire extinguishers banned as a fire safety hazard.

The top internet searches should tell you a lot about a population.  Any guesses as to Yahoo's top 10 searches for this year?

All eyes on Georgia tomorrow.  There is one more election where the voters still have an actual say ... and that would be right here.  Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss is facing Democrat Jim Martin in a runoff.  The vote is tomorrow; and it's all about turnout.

Yeah, I know.  They're still counting votes in Minnesota, and Norm Coleman may still prevail against Democrat funny guy Al Franken.  But this one is in the hands of the politicians, lawyers and judges.  Georgia is in the hands of the voters - it this may be the last stand before a 60-vote filibuster proof Democrat majority in the Senate.

There is voter anger against Chambliss in Georgia.  This I understand.  Saxby's vote in favor of the bailout bill has a lot of people fuming .. but there's a lot of second-guessing here.  We now know that that the $700 billion bailout essentially amounts to a slush fund .. and hundreds of billions may be saved for Obama to spend.  This is not what the people wanted and not what the Republicans in the Senate voted for.  But now it is what it is, and letting the Democrats have their 60 seats isn't going to change anything.  This is about votes to come.  Votes to raise taxes, votes to redistribute wealth, votes to expand the power of government, votes to confirm anti-Constitutional Supreme Court justices and to pass the unionization-by-intimidation bill.  In a worse-case scenario this election tomorrow in Georgia could be about votes on whether or not the government will seize all or a portion of our 401Ks and pension plans, and a vote on whether or not to remove the cap on Social Security taxes.  Would you like to see means-testing for your Social Security benefits?  Would you like for the government to come to you when you reach retirement age and tell you that you have simply been too successful to collect your Social Security -- that the money is needed for people who didn't work quite so hard?

It's all about turnout.  The polls show it too close to call.  You can bet that those who vote for a living will be at the polls.  The unions will be sending their vans out, driven by union volunteers, to collect as many Democrat voters and deliver them to the polls as possible.  Hey ... they have the card check bill to protect.  Churchgoers across Atlanta were admonished to go to the polls and vote for Martin on Tuesday.  The Democrats are running ads of Saxby Chambliss pictured next to a multi-million dollar yacht cursing the seas - the wealth envy card being played to the hilt.  Those with no job - those who vote for their living - will have no trouble leaving work (yeah, right) to vote.  Will you?

Unless you spent the weekend in a six-pack or you don't watch anything except Entertainment Tonight or Sabado Gigante, Muslim terrorists were at it again last week.  The Muslims went to Mumbai (f/k/a Bombay) India and managed to murder perhaps as many as 300 people.  Eyewitnesses say the Muslims were specifically targeting American, British and Jewish travelers (i.e. whites) in those luxury hotels.  Typically, the media simply referred to the killers as "terrorists" throughout the siege.  Sorry, but "terrorist" is only half a word.  Until experience and reality teaches us differently, the first half of that word is either "Islamic" or "Muslim."

Apparently there were ten Muslims involved in this attack.  One has been captured.  His name is Azam Amir Kasab.  He's 21-years-old.  He's from Pakistan.  Who knows how many he killed - but when he was captured he started pleading for his own life.  He says that these attacks had been planned for months.  All of the men involved were trained in marine warfare.  Their main objective was to "target whites, preferably Americans and British."  Spare the Muslims.  There are accounts of hostages who had to prove to the terrorists that they were Muslim by reciting passages from the Koran or dropping their pants to see whether or not they were circumcised.

This is our reminder that Islamic radicals are still out there, still capable of mounting sophisticated attacks, and still desirous of killing as many Americans as they possibly can.

I do have a question though.  I thought that once Barack Obama was elected the world would love us again?  What went wrong?  Do we have to wait until he's sworn in?  Well, we'll see how that works out.

By the way .. I did some Internet searching.  I found a few stories about prayer vigils for the Mumbai victims of Islamic terrorists --- but none held at Mosques.  Not surprised, frankly.

As I was perusing the newspapers this weekend I noticed a lot of stories about hungry children.  OK - it's wonderful that so many of you want to help those in need, but I have to throw a little water on this idea that so many children are "going hungry" in this country.

Let's just clear this up.  When the "activists" head out there with their pollsters and start asking questions, one of those questions is something like "Have any of your children complained about being hungry during the last year?"  Now I don't care how much money you make; if you have a child that child is going to say "Mommy, I'm hungry" about once a week.  You tell these survey-takers that your child uttered those words just one time - and suddenly you have a statistic; a child "going hungry" in the United States.

This ought to help you call "BS" on some of the more alarming ads or stories you may see over the Holidays.

WEALTH ENVY ...

I know what you're thinking right now.  You would like to take a trip into the mind of someone who just can't stand the fact that there are people out there who have worked smarter, harder and longer and in the process have become very successful.  Yeah .. how dare these people work that hard and earn that much money?  Don't they realize they're making me look bad?

Have you ever tried to noodle out the thought processes behind wealth envy?  Here, let me help you.  Nobody likes to be told that they just haven't worked smart enough or hard enough to become wealthy.  People don't want to accept the fact that they've made some pathetic decision in their lives that stood in the way of success and wealth.  They don't want to be told they didn't pay attention to their education. They don't want to hear that they took a dead-end job and hung with it for years. They don't want to hear that they were too eager to punch out and head home after their required eight hours every day .. eschewing a bit of extra work that might have moved them ahead a few squares.  People don't want to hear that all of the money they spent on booze, partying, bass boats, vacations, car payments and lifestyle might have been better invested for future returns.

In short .. so many people just can't bring themselves to accept the fact that it is they who have held themselves back.  No.  No way.  It's not their fault they aren't rich.  You can hear the thought process:  "I'm a good person.  I work hard.  I put in my 40 hours a week.  I pay my taxes.  I coach little league.  It's not my fault I'm not rich.  Those rich people cheated.  They have crooked lawyers.  They cheat on their taxes.  They've exploited people like me.  They're may be poor but at least I'm honest.  Those rich people are all crooks and they're holding the rest of us down.

Now ... an object lesson.  Here is an excerpt from delightful little email I got from some lady named Joy of Bradenton, Florida. She is more than a little upset about a conversation last week with a caller. The caller and I were wondering where the good investment bargains might be right now ... a question that many are asking.  Here you go:

"Don't you think that the fact that people like you with in your words " lots of money to invest" need to actually pay the taxes that they owe? My daughter is a CPA, so I know that most wealthy people use so many loopholes that they end up paying less tax percentage than the working poor. (BTW, she will not let her clients take questionable deductions although the most wealthy of them are always trying to find new ways to cheat. It is her license on the line if they lie on a tax return so she tells them to find another CPA if they insist on shady accounting practices.)

"Isn't it time for the people who use the system against the interests of the country by cheating on their taxes pay their actual tax liability? Isn't that the real Patriotic thing to do?  You profess to be a Patriot, don't you?

"The auto unions are not the enemy, the illegals are not the enemy, the greedy are the enemy.

"Sell your private jet and pay someone's mortgage that is being thrown into the street because their minimum wage job (that they were forced to take after they were laid off as the stockholders and CEOs steal their pension money) won't let them hold on to their home.  Lose your cushy transportation and save your soul."

Yeah, that's it.  People earning minimum wage are being foreclosed on because of corporate stockholders and CEOs.  It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that they just aren't worth more to an employer than a few bucks an hour.  Oh well ... forget it.  To Joy and to people like her the rich are evil, and there's no changing that.  The poor are only poor because rich people made them that way.  Joy will remain poor .. she's programmed that way.  Sad.  She could change, but I don't see it.

Well, I think this was a good trade. The folks at the Ritz Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation got to auction off a round of golf with me for charity ... and my family gots to stay at the Ritz over Thanksgiving. We want to thank Rhonda and Steven and the incredible staff at the Ritz Lodge for an amazing weekend. The "Lighting of the Lodge" on Wednesday night was spectacular (see pictures on link) ... but why anyone would ever want to play over $800 to see my horrible golf game I'll just never understand. Can we wait until it's a little warmer before we tee it up?

EXERCISE IN IGNORANCE

In Compton, California they had their little annual gun buy-back program this past weekend.  They paid a hundred buck each for a variety of guns turned in by the local citizenry.  What nonsense.  Are we expected to believe that a criminal is going to turn in his only gun for a hundred bucks?  BS.  He's going to USE his gun to get that hundred bucks.

Has anyone ever done a scientific study to see just how effective these guy buy-back programs are?  Oh, wait.  That's right.  I have!  Several years ago I had a statistician at Georgia Tech study the situation to come up with a number of guns that had to be bought-back to reach a statistical certainty of having saved one life.  The answer?  About 65,000 guns.  Now in this weekend's Compton effort they collected what was described as "several hundred."  It seems to me that the several thousand dollars spent buying back several hundred guns from people who would never use them in a crime might have been better spent --- perhaps on bullets for the bad guys.

WELL THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG

The day before Thanksgiving I got on the air and ranted for four and a half hours about Florida Gulf Coast University and its decision to ban Christmas from campus.  Cristina spent the entire show trying to get the president of the University, Wilson Bradshaw, on the air to discuss his asinine decision.  His calendar was "completely booked."  Yeah ... I'll just bet.  Everyone completely books their calendar the day before Thanksgiving.

But wait!  It turns out that Bradshaw's calendar was indeed booked - he was busy drafting a new press release to reverse his decision to ban Christmas from campus.  By Wednesday afternoon, Bradshaw had a change of heart.  He says that he changed his mind due to the "overwhelming negative response."  Gee, ya think?  Don't you just hate it when some SAWB talk show host picks up on your absurd politically correct machinations?

Anyway, I figured that you would be happy to know that some sanity has been restored to the campus of Gulf Coast University.  Although, it shouldn't take a national talk show and the national media to point out the idiocy of the original plan.

INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COURT

A serious idea making the rounds is the establishment of an international environmental court of law.  The idea will officially be proposed at a symposium at the British Library to politicians, scientists and important public figures who buy into this global warming hoax.  And the good news for them ... this plan to create an environmental court would give them even more power.

Basically, the court would be similar to the International Court of Justice in the Hague.  This court would be the supreme legal authority on all issues regarding the environment.  First it would start with enforcing an international agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions.  It would also have the authority to fine countries and private companies that fail to protect endangered species or harm the environment.  The court would enforce the "right to a healthy environment."  Oh gawd .. here we go again with yet another "right" we can add to the list.

WORLD AIDS DAY

Today is World AIDS Day.  You've heard me talk about AIDS epidemic for years. For instance ... the spread of AIDS has never been severe enough, at least in the United States, to earn the title of "epidemic."  But maybe there was a political reason to attach that label.  Possible?  Well, let me give you a little clue: perhaps some were just looking for an excuse for the redistribution of wealth - America's wealth. Did you know that by 2006, 80% of American aide for health issues went to AIDS organizations?  We are talking some serious money here, folks.  And for what?

More and more experts are now coming out a saying that we are grossly over-funding AIDS organizations compared to other arguably more pressing health needs.  In fact, Roger England of a think tank called Health Systems Workshop believes that UNAIDS has "outlived its purpose and should be disbanded."  He says, "The global HIV industry is too big and out of control. We have created a monster with too many vested interests and reputations at stake, ... too many relatively well paid HIV staff in affected countries, and too many rock stars with AIDS support as a fashion accessory."

Here's something else you may not realize.  A huge percentage of AIDS cases in Africa are really AIDS at all.  You see, there was no real way to do complete testing and screening for HIV throughout Africa, so many cases are diagnosed from some simple guidelines .. like persistent exhaustion.  So much for scientific accuracy.  Who needs accuracy when you're only spending American taxpayer dollars.

So there you go.  Similar to entitlement culture, once you create a program you can never ever take it away.  England got it right - we have created a monster.  Too many people become dependent on them.  This isn't justification, just the sad truth.

Iran wants to work with neighboring Arab countries to build nuclear power plants.

Now that Hillary will be Secretary of State, the Washington Post wants the governor of New York to appoint Bill Clinton to replace her in the Senate.  Oh yeah ... let's hold our breaths.

How are things looking in the Minnesota Senate race?  Franken is still trying to steal the thing ... but that doesn't seem to be working out too well for him.

Let's put the bailout into historical perspective ... yeah, that's a lot of money.

On Barack Obama's transition website, you can share your stories of how you have "given back" to your community.  Don't you just love that phrase?

Paul Krugman of the New York Times says that the reason the New Deal failed was because it didn't spend ENOUGH money.

The United Auto Workers union made a public plea yesterday for your tax dollars to save their over-inflated salaries and pension plans.

Legislators in Connecticut (all Democrats) want to get into the business of using your tax dollars to subsidize local newspapers.

Chris Matthews may be the next mainstream media hack to get involved in politics.  Well .. it's either that or try to become a radio talk star.

The National Black Republican Association wants Barack Obama to apologize for the Democrat's 150-year history of racism.

A DRT story where the homeowner managed to wrestle the gun away from the men who came to rob him, and he shot them both.  Unfortunately only one was DRT.

Just as a little reminder, a recent Rasmussen poll found that 68% of American adults prefer stores to show signs saying "Merry Christmas" rather than "Happy Holidays."

New York City public transportation will write a note for your boss or teacher to prove that you were late because of the Subway system.  Wait, how much is this costing the tax payers?

You can thank your tax dollars for a $6 million tutoring facility at the University of Illinois ... that can only be used by athletes.

Government stupidity on many levels: A clerical error on a federal grant application cost the city of Denver the funding needed to run its program to protect kids from lead poisoning.

Researchers have found that places where individualism is valued over the collective good also tend to be places where a lot of beer is consumed.  Damn that individualism!
