Neil... I love your show but you are WAAAY off base with your assesment of the situation presented on the show. You are taking all context from the show away.

1. The guy was a multi-millionaire star baseball pitcher with a correspondingly huge insurance policy. His family not being taken care of financially was not in the eqation.

2. The guy also was an addict and he did not like himself very much.

3. They were not at the time 100% sure what was wrong with him in the first place and there was a good chance that he was going to die anyway. Why be 100% sure to kill your child for an unknown percentage to save yourself?

4. They had been wanting a child for a long time and had been unsuccessful until then.

As you can see, it was not all cut and dried like you tried to present it. It was not "kill the baby, save the man", it was "kill the baby, probably not save the man anyway".

Besides, they later found the problem (he was chainsmoking tainted pot) and he ended up not even needing a new kidney.

So you would have quickly decided to take the life of your own child for nothing.

It would have been you and your wife holding a bib or a rattle wracked with grief. Roll the credits.

That may have even been a better ending for dramatic impact than the one the show had.

I do not oppose abortion based on religious belief either... I just don't think anyone can be intellectually honest while calling it anything but murder. Murder is murder.
