Tom sends this in with this comment: The sign was seen on the side of a city street in Baton Rouge, LA. Selling of "fresh coon" in very common in south LA. But you have to leave the head on so the buyer can tell that it is really a coon and not a small dog.

Ron wrote in to add: "Your redneck butcher was good, but the commentary sent me into hysterics! When I was a teenager 40 some years ago, we had a trap line catching Possums mostly and some Coons. We slipped a small dog in on them once and after we had to leave the FEET on. That is good! The possums were put live in burlap bags. We sold them for 1-3 dollars for Possums and 3 dollars for DEAD coons."
