Right there with you.

This past weekend, my family (me, my wife, my mother-in-law, and my brother-in-law) went to a gun show here at the Cobb Civic Center. Inside, John Oxendine supporters were passing out flyers--he's running for Governor. The pamphlet had twelve points. 9.5 of them I agreed with. One, transportation, I need more details on so give it 0.5 points.

One I agree with, but in a fundamentally different way, school vouchers--I support public education, but not public schools (i.e., all schools should be 'private', so vouchers to me mean something different than his platform means.

The other was abortion, and his plank here is "Life is a precious gift from our Creator. Abortion is the taking of that precious gift, an innocent life. As Governor, I will oppose abortion at any point of gestation. Our support for life should be supplemented by an amendment to the Georgia Constitution proclaiming a "paramount right to life".

That, combined with his history of one-man-one-woman anti-gay behavior, use of language like Those who are engaged in homosexual behavior are peoplewho need love and forgiveness, and who need to understand the love of God.

If only I could find a candidate that made economic sense without trying to ram his religion down my throat too.

P.S. I told my wife I was glad the pamphlet had support for the FairTax as #12 rather than #1, otherwise I might not have read any further...
