...all those "other taxes" you mention come out of my income. Regardless of how you want to package it, any money that I have withheld or otherwise removed from my gross is a tax on my income. Federal revenues are computed on the gross of what is taken in from taxation, withholdings (which are just another form of taxation) etc...which are levied against incomes. Once the revenues are collated, they are disbursed into the different treasury coffers. Whether the money is removed when I get my paycheck or when I send a check on 15 APR is irrelevant since the Fed Gov treats the revenue the same. Bacon, sausage, chops or ribs...it is still pig, some is just sliced differently
