This will never pass, of course, because it would mean taxing people like Algore and Leonardo Dicaprio. Can't have that.<br> <br> While I accept the science of global warming, this is a terrible way to deal with it. Reducing global carbon emissions means technological breakthroughs, which requires -- wait for it -- rich people and big corporations to put up the capital. Trying to get everyone down to some global standard is just going to make us all poor.<br> <br> "Remember, the average American defined as living in poverty has a standard of living that exceeds the average European."<br> <br> I see the point you are making Neal, but try not to engage in hyperbole. For 1 person, the US poverty line is around $10k. For a family of three, it's $18k (6 per person). With the exception of some Balkan states and former Soviet clients, the Europeans are way above that.
