Ivan's got it! <br> Tens of thousands of American young men gave their lives to free America's slaves in the War Between The States. A slave was provided their housing, clothing, food, medical care, and treated very well if they remained compliant to the master's wishes. Slaves were a huge financial investment for their owners. Slaves didn't have to think for themselves or even worry about the future because the master had that all taken care of.<br> How pathetic that those Union soldiers died in vain. Freedom was not what the slaves wanted. They just didn't want to work. Ol' Massa Barney's got it figured out.
