You say we have too many people who cannot get or afford health insurance. How may is too many? The estimated uninsured in this country is around 47 million last I heard. That means over 253 million ARE insured. Of the 47 million uninsured, many could be and have chosen not to be. Many are illegal aliens who could be insured if they were legal. Many qualify for government insurance already and have chosen not to sign up. They know they don't need to in order to be treated in an ER. Many can afford to pay for their healthcare without insurance. And others could be insured but don't think they need it and spend their money on other things. They are free to make this decision, whether or not it turns out to be a good one.

I've seen estimates that the number of uninsured who cannot afford or qualify for insurance is around 8 million. That's less than 3% of the population.

Our healthcare system already IS the best in the world. Does our system have issues that need to be addressed? Absolutely. Many of those issues have been created by the government regulations.

But we don't have a healthcare crisis. If they nationalize healthcare, we will.

We don't need to nationalize the healthcare system to address the needs of less than 3% of the population. We don't need to spend trillions of dollars to address those people.

Medicare, like many private insurers, doesn't cover anything and everything. What makes you think putting everyone on a government plan will improve healthcare?
