Though I'm usually in favor of making it legal for alien workers to stay here (because I'm a selfish capitalist who believes my standard of living goes up if more people are creating wealth), it does seem wrong to release criminal aliens early from jail. If you commit a crime in the United States, the punishment has to be more severe than a simple "you get to go home now." This only encourages other aliens to commit crimes because the punishment is less severe.
