As long as medical providers are forced to practice defensive medicine, costs are going to continue to rise. Doctors are not perfect, but consumers expect perfection. Anytime results are less than perfection, lawsuits follow. As long as third parties are paying, such as government or private insurance companies, they get to make the final decision about care. Pay your doctor directly, and watch your costs drop. A large part of the cost of healthcare is paid to administration to track claims, resolve disputes, figure and collect copays, etc. If we handled food distribution the way medical payments are handled, your groceries would cost thousands. But, you go to the store of your choice, select the groceries you desire, and pay for them. No getting prior approval from the third party that will be paying for them, figuring a percentage that is to be paid before consumption, and then getting a bill 60 or 90 days later for the balance not covered. Stop surrendering control of your life to others!!!
