I have been a legal alien in the state of Georgia for 11 years. In those years, I have had to renew my driver's license three different times. After presenting my green card as proof of identification, and renewing my license, I was asked all three times if I would like to register to vote. My response all three times was "I can't vote. I'm not a citizen." All three times, the DMV employee told me "You don't have to be a citizen to vote, you just have to be legal."<br> <br> I have ever registered to vote, but my experience is in three different counties over an eleven year period. I believe the state of Georgia is fighting a battle with itself.
