Yes the A-bombs were necessary.<br> yes Japan did have peace-feelers in Nuetral Switzerland discussing keeping the Emperor in power. However the fanatics still had more power and had already decided to fight to the death with anyone civilan or military, from toddlers walking to old farts with canes. If you can walk, you can fight. It was AFTER the bombs were dropped that the Emperor finally broke his silence and said enough was enough, that this is over. Even then in the final hours before his surrender recording was played to his people, die-hards tried to break into the impereal palace and overthrow the Emperor to keep fighting. Thankfully the coup attempt failed and peace was at hand. Besides as I stated before, the bomb droppings showed the rest of the world the true power of the bomb and that fear alone kept future Cold Warriors on both sides from pushing the proverbial button. Dropping the bombs not only saved the Japanese race, million of American soldiers, but also the world the next 60+ years.
