Neal is right. The free market will sell fuel efficient cars when there is a high enough demand for them. If gas prices go back up ($3-$4/gal) then people will be more inclined to buy them.<br> <br> Then again, that exact reason could be why so many democrats don't want to open up new drilling sites in the US.
