Piracy is not solely a “Muslim” problem, but exists were it is profitable for anyone to turn to the crime without fear of retribution. Piracy actively exists not only along the sea lanes near Somalia, but in other areas of the world. Pirates actively prey on the weak off the coast of South America, the Malacca Straits, West Africa, the coast of Bangladesh, and the South China Sea - all these are active hotspots. Even with the Somali piracy, many of these pirates operate in areas outside of the Jihadist controlled areas like the so called “friendly government” controlled coast of Putland.
