Neal - I am a loyal listener to the show and read your column every day. (I am at work... on break). As a new Chase employee -recently bought that is. I am told we can't get loans closed we submitted in December 2008 - customers have to pay for extensions that are not their fault, and now after sending us emails telling us how ethical we should be, they are acting very unethically in spending this kind of money on jets when their "house" is not in order and they are not treating employees ethically. I have no wealth envy and am a HUGE Fairtax supporter (Plan on being there for your Jax April show). It's not about envy - I love planes - flown and jumped out of them myself. It's about right and wrong and doing what you say not what you do. I am happy to be employed but would like for the company I work for to be as "honest and ethical" as they say are demanding me to be. Go ahead yell at me and tell me I'm a moron and an envious Jerk if you must but, "it is what it is" is a tiring old saying people say when they have no answer. The company just came out and said in email that we are losing our 41k match, they took away plastic ware for us to eat with, no more cafe in our building. They tell us to cut costs and be good stewards of the company but they treat their customers and employees like 2nd class citizens, meanwhile they are buying jets... for who? The Ceo who should spend his own money and use the company money for things like... paying it's employess and fulfilling its promises to its borrowers.
