I do think in a lot of ways that we need to quit being paranoid about offending people, but look around at school and professional sports logos for a minute. There are so many downright racist caricatures of Native Americans that it is not funny. Why should they have to put up with it?<br> <br> Think about it, every crappy high school with the name "Indians" or "Redskins" or "Chiefs" presents an absurdly dehumanizing caricature of Native Americans that would not be acceptable for any other ethnic group. If someone were to name a team the "Darkies" the "Spics" or the "Queers," there would be tons of trouble. But making fun of, or mistreating Native Americans in general, has been accepted since the first European ship sailed into North America.
