I was a ground crew member of a Top Gun school pilot from our squadron in the early 70's.<br> Miramar was out in the middle of nowhere and thought the government had bought up most of the surrounding land just to keep out the home builders.<br> It is the same where ever you go, SeaTac airport at Seattle was surrounded by undeveloped land and a gas station or two, now it a city and they complain about the noise.
