I was once told "Don't hold strong opinions about things you don't understand."<br> <br> That being said, I have family members, friends, etc. who have "given back" in their roles as medical providers. Some have chosen the military. Some have chosen loan repayment supplementation/forgiveness from rural communities. This is the giving back that I can get behind. What Daschle should say is that these professionals who have given up a decade of their life to become proficient at what they do should be rewarded and valued for their dedication. <br> <br> But again, this is the difference between those with conservative values and those with liberal values. Acts of charity where both parties benefit (in this case sub-standard wages paired with loan forgiveness) is much better than taxation. There is a human element that far too many are willing to ignore...mandating "giving back" or taxes or slavery or whatever you call it kills the human spirit and makes the providers bitter.
