Up until a few years ago thy were building brand new VW beetles in Mexico City ranging from $1,200-$1,700 U.S. dollars. I think the reason they were banned here was because of federally mandated pollution contols. My 1991 Honda CRX that can't get less than 50 m.p.g. was discontinued because of federally mandated airbags. It is the federally mandated safety garbage and other nonsnese that is hurting the consumer more than anything. I am about to go from being able to get 8 channels on my television to 2 because of federal mandates. Somebody needs to be shot over this.
