Hey Neal, Ford sells a perfectly wonderful five passenger car that gets SIXTY FIVE MILES PER GALLON!!!<br> <br> But they only sell it in Europe and they refuse to bring it over here claiming that Americans won't buy a diesel car (unlike M-B, VW and soon, Nissan). Diesel autos constitute more than half the European auto market, but not here. <br> <br> Another reason why diesels don't go over well here is that the Fed charges $1.00+ road tax on diesel fuel since they feel that its mostly trucks that burn the stuff. Besides, the "Gummit" would rather have us buying hybrid vehicles that have complex batteries made in S.E. Asia somewhere... so go figure who wins in that deal.<br> <br> If Ford is going to beg congress for something, they need to be begging for a repreve on the diesel fuel tax that discourages Americans from buying these VERY efficient vehicles.
