Neil, as a teacher in northern GA, my viewpoint may be a little slanted. I really believe the biggest problem in this country is public education. Aside from pulling kids away from our Christian heritage, we are teaching them an entitlement mentality. No winners or losers anymore, just "fairness" which is a load of junk. Life has winners and losers, and when winners fail, they get back up and do it again. In school, we teach them that failure is bad. In fact my county just adopted a policy that no grade can be given lower than a 60. So if a child is lazy during class and the parents don't care about helping to change that attitude. We must give a 60 in the name of fairness. I refuse to comply with that, but that's another topic. We teach kids that everyone should have equal results and that's simply not true. We all have equal opportunity, NOT RESULTS. I don't care what your economic status or color of your skin, your entitled to nothing, but you have the possibilites to do anything you want. And as far as the "Christian" thing to do...it would be to help others. And I don't know of a single poor person that has ever started a charity. Good people use their wealth for good, and greedy jerks use it for personal gain only. God will judge the actions, NOT ME. Just my two cents.
