What a silly way to do it... the Chicago Metra trains have had late notes for years. If the main Chicago station gets word that a train is late or delayed, it prints up a bunch of generic "late" notices and leaves them in the station for commuters to pick up, with a number for the boss to call, and you tell your boss which train number you are so they can verify themselves. It costs about as much as black-and-white photocopies (cut into quarter sheets).
