We cant all be entrepreneurs or professional managers. The unions played a major role in getting the regular working person reasonable wages, the 40 hour work week, employer paid benefits - a lot of the stuff we take for granted when we work for a living.<br> <br> I spent some time studying the role and history of unions in college. I started out being against unions but realized that if unions were suddenly gone, we would backslide towards where we were as a country in the Horatio Alger days.<br> <br> So unions could play a key role in the future of American business - and not just manufacturing. But they will need to evolve, just like the auto industry needs to change its ways.
