A lot of talk has happened over this cluster-fornication in NY 23. The fallout from the race continues, and as it persists, things are looking uglier for Republicans. RINO Senator Lindsey Graham is warning that conservatives are going to destroy the Republican Party if they try to drive away moderate candidates. He says, "To those people who are pursuing purity, you'll become a club not a party ... Those people who are trying to embrace conservatism in a thoughtful way that fits the region and the state and the district are going to do well. Conservativism is an asset. Blind ideology is not." Perhaps Graham was addressing the abortocentrists in the party. If not, he should have been.
Let me remind you that this idea of party purity goes both ways. MoveOn.org is on an email campaign to defeat any Democrat who is not 100% in support of Obamacare. Now, there are a lot of you who will argue that MoveOn.org does not represent the vast majority of the Democrat Party. This "progressive" wing of the Democrat Party is always in jeopardy of splitting voters. Let's hope the looters pursue the purity principle while conservatives ease up a bit. Might even save the Republic.
Senator Arlen Specter releases a statement that he is switching to the Democrat Party. Discuss.
Yesterday during the program we were graced with the news that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (a Democrat) was arrested. The very short story is that the guy is a complete corrupt footstool. I mean, seriously .. the FBI says it has phone call recordings of this guy - a sitting governor - trying to sell of Barack Obama's senate seat. And that is just the first page! There are 76 pages full of different schemes this guy had going .. like telling the Chicago Tribune that he would give the paper financial help if it agreed to fire some of its editorial writers that were critical of him.
So there are a couple of issues at stake here. Let's start out slow.
First of all, what do you do about Barak Obama's senate seat? The seat still has to be filled. Clearly this creep isn't going to be appointing anyone, so now what? There are talks of the Senate taking over the process. Either way, we know the rules .. It's a black seat now ... a historical black seat ... so at least we know that whoever is appointed or selected or chosen or whatever to fill that seat is going to absolutely, positively, without question have to be black. And no ... there no discrimination here, is there now?
But on to far juicier things .. did Barack Obama's transition team know this was going on? Heck, did Barack Obama himself know this was going on? That question is already getting testy. Yesterday Obama said that he hasn't had any contact with the governor or his office. But there is a statement out there from David Axelrod that he made on November 23, 2008 saying, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." Of course now the Obama transition team has come out and said that Axelrod "misspoke" back in November. Don't you just like this "misspoke" angle? I think "screwed up" is more appropriate. But that is about all we will get for now until the FBI releases more information about the recorded phone calls.
So the next step is .. let's try to figure out how close was Barack Obama to this guy. Even if they weren't close, shouldn't this say SOMETHING about the political culture that produced Barack Obama? From what I can tell, Obama endorsed Blagojevich for governor in 2002 and 2006. He also happened to serve as a top advisor to him during his 2002 run. Guess who was also in the picture? Rahm Emanuel. It can be said that Obama and Emanuel were among Blagojevich's top strategists when he won in 2002.
In 2002, on a Chicago TV show, Obama had the following exchange:
Obama: "Right now, my main focus is to make sure that we elect Rod Blagojevich as Governor, we..." Host: "You working hard for Rod?" Obama: "You betcha" Host: "Hot Rod?" Obama: "That's exactly right"
And more recently, in 2006, Obama spoke at the Illinois State Fair on behalf of Blagojevich.
Bottom line .. you need to remember that our next president came from the same political culture as did this corrupt governor. Most of Obama's myrmidons don't realize it, but Obama won his first race for office not by getting more votes than the other folks, but by arranging to have his opponents - ALL of them - kicked off the ballot. Now if that doesn't carry the stench of Chicago-style politics ...
That question comes from an elected official in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. That person would be Tonya Payne, a Democrat member of the Pittsburgh City Council. Apparently there has been brouhaha in Pittsburgh concerning the right to bear arms. It would be a little thing called the Second Amendment ... not that this woman has heard of it. I wonder what she would score on that little civics quiz we talked about yesterday?
Anyway, Tonya and her fellow council members approved legislation that would require anyone to report a lost or stolen firearm within 24 hours. If not reported, the person would face a fine. You see, right now in Pennsylvania there is a state ban on local laws on "the transfer, ownership, transportation or possession" of guns. The question is whether that extends to reporting lost or stolen firearms.
So that's when Tonya, who can't seem to wrap her bureaucratic head around the concept, comes up with this line: "Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?"
She goes on to say, "This is what's right to do, and if this means that we have to go out and have a court battle, then that's fine ... We have plenty of dead bodies coming up in our streets every single day, and that is unacceptable."
So according to Tonya, it is okay to defy the Constitution if your city councilwoman thinks that "it is the right thing to do." Is this the type of respect for the Constitutional law that we can expect from a Barack Obama administration? Remember, under an Obama administration with Obama appointed judges ... the Constitution is just a formality, what really matters is making sure that judges rule the way they feel is "right."
Next year, the Congress will absolutely address the issue of universal healthcare. And it seems they are already getting the process underway. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, a Democrat from Montana, has unveiled his own healthcare plan. It happens to be very similar to Barack Obama's plan that he touted on the campaign trail. Except there is one large difference ... Baucus' plan would require that all Americans have health insurance. In other words, it would be illegal for you to be without health insurance.
The proposal would create a new insurance exchange for those 47 million uninsured Americans - many of which are illegal -- some of which can afford to pay for medical expenses out of pocket, and some of which are too lazy or cocky to buy their own health insurance. But don't worry, there will be government subsidies available to people who can't afford it. Employers will be required to provide health insurance to employees, meaning healthcare would no longer a benefit but a government mandate. If the company did not provide health insurance, it would be required to pay into a fund to cover the uninsured.
God forbid we should ever promote the idea that individuals are responsible for their own health care. Oh .. wait. That's right! We're at war against the concept of individuality here. Almost forgot.
An analysis of Barack Obama's healthcare plan was also released yesterday. A consulting firm estimates that his plan, which is similar to Baucus' proposal, would cost the tax payers $75 billion in the first year. By 2018, we will have spent over $1 trillion to fund this government insurance scheme. The analysis also found that Obama's plan may worsen some problems like shortages of primary care doctors. The report said, "Unless costs are cut, growing health care costs will increase the costs of Obama's plan dramatically over time and reduce the effectiveness of mandates. This could make the federal costs unsustainably high."
Less than 24 hours after his acceptance speech, Barack Obama is working on
creating his White House staff. To be expected. But the rumors and whispers
came to fruition ... his first act as president-elect was to ask
Democrat Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff. And you
elected this guy to be the beacon of change? Rahm Emanuel is the epitome of
old-school, established Washington partisan politics. He was a top dog washer
for Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1998. In 2006, you can thank Rahm Emanuel for the
Democrat take-over of the Congress ... he was the Chairman of the Democrat
Congressional Campaign committee. This He recognized the fact that they
Republicans had blown it. And he capitalized. Big time.
Before we go anywhere, did you know that Emanuel was once the senior advisor
and chief fundraiser for Chicago's Richard Daley? He was at the forefront of
this corrupt, Chicago-style politics that Barack Obama refused to stand up to.
I guess that paid off.
But why is Emanuel the ultimate backwards choice? Because
he was part of Bill Clinton's inside circle when he was involved in all of these
sex scandals. Monica Lewinsky, Gennifer Flowers, Juanita Broaderrick, Paula
Jones. Do any of those ring a bell? And there was Rahm Emanuel ... standing
right by his side ... working his buns off to make sure that Clinton's sexual
escapades didn't become public. And it seems he didn't learn his lessons,
because
he knew about the sexual scandals in the race for Mark Foley's seat a few
years ago, and denied, denied, denied, and the blamed it on Republicans.
To Barack Obama's credit ... the guy has deep ties to the Jewish community.
Maybe this will shape his willingness to meet with Ahmadinejad who has called
for the destruction of Israel. Then again, maybe not.
Let's keep watching the staffing choices. Hoping things get a bit better.
And there is no doubt that "new voters" turned out in this election.
When they say "new voters" they are talking about people who have never
voted in an election before. And of these new voters, 6 out of every 10
were under the age of 30 years old. So we are talking about the college
kids and those people who have barely begun to formulate a mature
thought about politics ... I know, I am going to catch hell for that
... "but not ALL college kids!"
My point is that these young voters turned out for Barack Obama in
numbers close to 70% in some states. They came out to vote for their
American Idol/MTV candidate. And these people are the future of this
country. Maybe they will one day realize the repercussions of putting a
Marxist in the White House when they try to open their own business.
Maybe they'll look back and think "Gawd, how could I have been so
ignorant? How could I have bought into this "change" rhetoric?" They
will get what they voted for, and you can thank government schools, by
the way.
I've been doing talk radio for almost 40 years. This is my 10th
presidential election as a talk show host. A lot of younger listeners -
the type who voted for Obama, I suspect - love to send me emails making
fun of my age. The "hey old man" messages come now with regularity.
Well .. tell you what. It's not my future that has been endangered by
this election. I don't have to worry about the MoveOn Democrat party
robbing me of my opportunity to make a good life for myself and my
family. Been there, done that. Some of you younger voters might want to
stop and take a moment to think about your own future though. Many of
you will succumb to government paternalism and do just enough to get by
... collecting your "tax break" checks from the government and making
sure that those checks never go away by keeping the Democrats in power.
Some of you, though, are going to become ambitious. You're going to
experience the desire to work hard, to work smart, and to go the extra
mile. When you do you're going to find the government there ready to
stand in your way and, if you manage to succeed, rob you of the fruits
of your labor.
I have a friend who's daughter received her first paycheck a few
weeks ago .. a check for one day's work as a substitute teacher. Now
remember ... we're talking teacher here ... as in government schools.
She earned $60 dollars for that one day's work ... but the check was
for $52. She was shocked. "But dad!" she said, "They told me I was
going to make sixty dollars!"
Hey, lady. You ain't seen nuthin' yet.
It is still hard to tell for sure the full extent of the damage in
the Congress. But it basically went as expected. The Democrats won't
get their magical 60 seats in the Senate, but they will have enough.
Already with a majority in the Senate, Republican Sens. Elizabeth Dole
of North Carolina and John Sununu of New Hampshire lost their seats to
Democrats. Also, Virginia and New Mexico picked up seats from retiring
GOP Senators. Some races (like in Minnesota) are still too close to
call.
In the House, the Democrats were able to knock out at least 12
Republicans so far and gain 9 open GOP seats. There were a few
Republicans who were able to win over Democrat incumbents (four, to be
exact). But a lot of these races are still going. The last we heard,
Democrats had over 250 seats in the House and at this rate, they are
expected to gain 20 seats in total. That would put their somewhere
around 255 seats.
Oh and let's not even get started on Governor's races.
Subject: Time for the Libertarians Name: Sean Message:
This
truly is a sad day for the Republican party, but all hope may not be
lost. Once people start to find out that Obama isn't the messiah they
think he is, the Libertarians will have a good shot at coming to power.
The Republican party has basically imploded on itself and can't be
taken seriously anymore. If we started now, we may be able to take
advantage of the situation.

Hi Neal, The
next 4 years will be an uphill battle for achievement-oriented
individuals like myself. Fortunately, guys like myself thrive on
challenges ergo, I am recommitting myself to my business (I'm
self-employed) and the betterment of myself and my family. It will take
all I can muster to overcome the anti-achievement government we
inflicted on ourselves this night. But I've had tougher challenges than
this one, for sure.
Subject: Spread the Wealth Name: Janis Message: When
the koolaid is free and the party provides free money with that, it is
hard for those who have "not" made much money to get drunk on GREED.
This is a vote of the have's and have nots, since the top pay the most
to the government all you do is promise more for 95% of folks and guess
what. This is not what our constitution promised the individual, but
now the group think begins and tax tyranny will run wild.I hope this
ends different than it has begun!!!!!
Subject: Neal, I'm gonna miss you.... Name: Clay Message: It
was great listening to your show while I have had the chance these last
10 years. I guess you can go back to practicing law, because it seems
your days on radio are over. Hopefully all that will change in 2-4
years.
Subject: 2008 Presidential election Name: Mary Message: Hi
Neal. I have been a devoted listener to all of the top conservative
talk radio shows for many years. I turn on the radio first thing in the
morning and don't turn it off until that night. However, I plan to wean
myself from all conservative talk radio shows to try to keep my sanity
the next four years. For me, at this time, ignorance is bliss. I am
upset and nervous about the future of this country and I hope that by
not hearing the awful truth I can keep from getting more upset and
depressed. So in other words... I'm not going to listen to you for four
years. I hope you are still on at that time.
If you don't think that the dumbing-down of America through
government education had anything to do with Obama's victory, then you
ought to be sentenced to reading some of the comments from Obama
supporters we've received. You would soon be of a different opinion.
Get ready for retroactive tax increases. When the Democrats begin
their punishment of achievement you can bet that that they'll make any
tax increase on the high achievers retroactive to January 1, 2009.
An idea for small business owners: Make note now of which of your
employees voted for Obama. When the tax increases hit and you're
looking for a way to cut expenses to offset the higher taxes, they
should be the first to go. They voted for it, let them suffer the
consequences.
Did you see those black militants at the Philadelphia polling
places? There they were in the black berets brandishing nightsticks
guarding the entrance to the polling location. Not much screaming over
that. But ... what it if had been skinheads "guarding" the entrance to
a predominately white polling place. Yeah .. just imagine the reaction
to that for a moment.
I wonder what percentage of the vote can be attributed to the
media's fawning over The Chosen One? Not only do Republicans have to
fight to win the hearts and minds of Americans again .. but they have
to battle the media as well. Nothing there will change. One commentator
last night said that Obama will scratch their stomachs every once in a
while and they'll roll over like puppies.
While we're on that topic, you cannot imagine the number of "Wait
until Barack Obama is President, and see what happens to you" emails
we've received here at the Boortz show. We generally chose not to
comment on or post them ... but they were there nonetheless - in large
numbers. I cannot remember a previous election where a candidate was
wielded as a weapon like this.
Do you realize that way back yonder at the founding of our Republic
the word "Democrat" was an epithet? Back then if you called someone a
Democrat you might well be challenged to a duel --- or just get the
snot knocked out of you. In the late 1700s a Democrat was "someone who
panders to the whims of the masses." Not much has changed insofar as
the definition has changed ... but now we elect them.
Rhetorical ability is so very important in politics. Obama has it,
McCain does not. Smooth talkers win at single's bars and in politics ..
often with similar outcomes for the listener.
I wonder how many people voted their jobs away yesterday?
Looking ahead to 2012? Unless someone better shows up, Huckabee is
my choice on the Republican side. As for the Libertarian ... well, I
have a favorite choice, but don't know if he'll run, let alone if he
could win the nomination. A lot of peace-at-any-price Libertarians
aren't too fond of him.
I still remember in the days after the Republican voter revolution
of 1994 when I heard a talk radio colleague telling listeners that
liberals are finished .. done. The suggestion was made that we should
save a few liberals and put them on display just so we can remember
what they were like. "Yeah," I thought. "Don't kid yourself. They'll be
back with a vengeance.. looking for conservative blood."
Hellllooooooooo!
Here in Georgia Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss won reelection. He defeated a Democrat weasel who told voters that "Saxby
Chambliss wants to add a 23% sales tax to everything you buy." You see .. there is something to smile about today.
The last thing I would want to do is discourage any capable and qualified
voter from heading out today to vote. Now by capable and qualified I mean
someone who is actually a citizen and someone who has somewhat of a clue as to
what is going on out there. The sad truth is that there are going to be legions
of voters like that idiot woman at an Obama rally who thought that once Obama
wins here mortgage payments and gas for her car were going to be taken care of. Obama is going to win this thing. There are only two mysteries left. How
big will the victory be, and will Obama get a filibuster-proof U.S. Senate. If
I had not already case my vote during early voting I would stand in line as long
as it took here in Georgia to make sure that our Republican Senator is not
replaced by a left-wing Democrat - one who is destined to become Harry Reid's
sock puppet if he wins.
So ... some Election Day thoughts:
Thanks, Republicans. This one belongs to you. The Republican Party
completely abandoned its principles after the voter revolution of 1994. The GOP
became the party of big spending and big government. Beltway Republicans became
drunk on power and completely forgot why they were there. They gave us no real
reason to go to the polls and vote for them save for that filibuster-proof
Senate scare and the fear of what the election of a Marxist will mean to our
freedoms.
Thanks, George Bush. Thanks for your spectacular lack of leadership on
issues of spending and big government over the past two terms. You get all the
credit in the world for keeping America safe from another terrorist attack ... but
when a president signs a bill he thinks is unconstitutional (McCain-Feingold)
just because he thinks the Supreme Court will straighten things out; and when a
president introduces grand new entitlement programs (Medicare drug benefits) and
fails to veto even one pork-laden spending bill ... well, the result is an
uninspired electorate and ... Barack Obama.
Thanks, Government Schools. Back to that woman at the Obama rally: Does
she really believe that once Obama is elected she won't have to worry about
putting gas in her car or paying her mortgage? Yup, she probably does. Then we
have those Harlem voters who think that Barack Obama did a fine job in selecting
Sarah Palin as his running mate. This election, more than any I can remember,
illustrates why Democrats are so determined to preserve our system of government
education. American voters are, for the most part, spectacularly uninformed
about the issues and the candidates they are voting for. Did I say
"uninformed?" I meant to say ignorant. For the most part these people casting
ballots today could not name their two U.S. Senators and their Congressman if
their flat-screens and cell phones depended on it. Things are only going to get
worse. Get ready for an all-out war on school choice .. and that includes the
home schooling option. The era of the teacher's unions is upon us.
And thanks Voters. This is an election that has been driven by wealth envy
and celebrity worship. I really don't see any of this changing anytime soon ...
so, whatchagonnado?
I really should be saving most of this for tomorrow .. when we find out just
how much trouble our Republic is really in. For today ... all we can
realistically hope for is keeping those big-government numbers down in the
Senate.
